As I posted to someone else, it’s definitely not a straightforward thing when it comes to this genre, but dependent on the context of the function of the glitch/exploit, it’s ramifications, the playerbase culture, and developer abilities and intentions.

Case by case.

Coming from a fighting game background, it’s a case where if the exploit wasn’t banned at the tournament (and depending on how the exploit is executed, that may not be a realistic route), it’s fair game. It’d be on the organizers to make that call and the developers to patch it out, if it was to be removed.

The only mistake in the butt controversy was them responding openly to it, whether out of coincidental ignorance of what would happen or trying to take advantage of it for brownie points. If they’d just swapped poses (the new pose is sexier!) without saying a word except maybe a patch note, no one would’ve cried one…
