The problem/inevitability of WoW losing subs is beyond the impact of starter zones.

You will not be directed there by following any other questlines (there may be achievements you can nab, however), but can always visit the areas of your own volition and be vastly overpowered by the time you get there!

I’m saying the newer designed areas will have lore worth reading — probably briefer than some of the Vanilla races’, too!

Do note that even before Cataclysm revamped much of the base continent and starting zones, Blizzard had gotten a better handle on keeping new players compelled through design and lore. Just for comparison’s/nostalgia’s sake, I’d look forward to checking out the Draenei and Blood Elf starting zones, and then the Goblin…

This is the wall MMOs have until whatever breakthrough is made. The time of EQ and DAoC and WoW and etc. enthralling people is largely gone. The magic is gone and it’s nobody’s fault.
