The numbers are actually all over the place, which means there is not a strong correlation between poverty and violent crime. You can’t say that poverty creates violent crime, because there are too many instances where it does not.

Poverty doesn’t cause violence, it causes theft, but not murder.

But not shared in poor Asian countries. They do not have high murder rates despite destitute poverty in many parts of the Asian world. Same with India.

Economic pressure does lead to more theft and the like, but it doesn’t correlate to murder. I stole and sold drugs...but murder? That’s not something you or I would ever do.
