WYNONNA EARP was enjoyable. I’m glad it’s getting a second season.
Syfy also aired a “preview” showing of the VAN HELSING pilot a few weeks ago--and, yeah, it was pretty tedious.
Trust me, WYNONNA is more fun.

Indeed, a very prescient bit of dialogue, considering that the term “computer virus” had not even been coined yet.
And, yeah, my high school “computer education” consisted of a one-week unit in which we cut out paper punch cards. And as late as 1987, when I first started working in publishing, all the editors and…
You’re not alone. I saw it at the Mid-Way Drive-In on its original release.
And I immediately thought of it when I saw TERMINATOR years later.
Not sure “computer viruses” were a thing back in 1973, so perhaps it’s not too surprising that Crichton didn’t use “the v-word.” Certainly, the term was not in common parlance in 1973, since most of us didn’t have computers or internet connections back then . . ..
That was over forty years ago, remember. Trust…
Absolutely. I’ve always thought that the Terminator was inspired, at least in part, by the implacable, relentless robot Gunslinger in this movie, who keeps on coming after Richard Benjamin, no matter what, even as his human facade is gradually ripped away to reveal his true, robotic nature.
Just to nitpick. They went out of their way to state that she’s just a robot, not an A.I. A subtle distinction to be sure, and we’ll see how long they can stick to it, but . . ...
I notice they made sure to show her in that teaser for the new season . ..
Beacon Hill High School, from MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” gives Sunnydale a run for its money ....
Flawless logic!
Heck, they’ve already done it on TV once! :)
That was a later version of the character, inspired by the original 1970s version, but . . . yep. I actually novelized that storyline many years ago, although Isis didn’t make the cover . ....
Alas, I’m guessing Isis is not an option anymore . . . :)
Thanks. I was pretty sure I remembered killing Hawkman myself at one point. :)
Refresh my memory. Didn’t Hawkman already die in FINAL CRISIS and then get brought back in BLACKEST DAY . . or maybe BRIGHTEST NIGHT?
Or am I behind the times here? :)
“You may find that having a thing is not quite so pleasurable as wanting it; it is not logical, but it is often true.”
Not sure I’ve got the quote word-for-word, but another great bit from that episode, presumably written by Sturgeon.
Note, btw, that the human woman Q was briefly chasing after was . . Picard’s ex.
Make of that what you will. :)
Nitpick: The Last Temptation of Christ was directed by Martin Scorsese, not Oliver Stone. Just to give credit where it’s due.
As I like to joke, THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK is the Jan Brady of STAR TREK movies, underappreciated and stuck in-between its two more popular sisters.
“Khan! Khan! Khan! All I ever hear is Khan!” :)
Still my second-favorite TREK movie, after KHAN, of course. It’s the ultimate feel-good TREK movie that leaves me grinning every time.
Syfy is running it tonight and I’m sorely tempted to watch it again, even though I already have it on DVD . ....
I try to limit myself to one “I’m a doctor, not a—-” per novel.
My personal favorite, which I’m unduly proud of?
“I’m a doctor, not an exorcist!”
