If only as well:

My favorite Hammer film is their second vampire flick, BRIDES OF DRACULA. Yes, it’s the one without Christopher Lee, but Cushing was never better as Van Helsing, and it’s filled with gripping, unforgettable moments.

Also worthy of mention: ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. (with Raquel Welch in the famous fur bikini), VAMPIRE

It’s like Iron Man’s “Hulkbuster”armor.

Would you wear go up against Superman wearing only lightweight body armor?

Last time I checked, Lynda Carter was not all that muscular either.

Granted, they lay on the “you just have to believe in yourself, Kara” stuff a little thick sometimes, but I’m not sure people really expect a lot of subtlety from a SUPERGIRL tv series. “Truth, justice, and the American way” and all that.

Says the guy who saw the Helen Slater movie twice in the theaters and enjoyed it

You know, I liked the Idris Elba joke, but it would have been even funnier if she had name-checked Harrison Ford.

Or would that be too meta?

On the other hand, not every superhero show needs to be aimed at mature, sophisticated, older fans. The fact that it’s sunnier and more kid-friendly than, say, ARROW is not necessarily a bad thing. In these days of DAREDEVIL and JESSICA JONES, it’s filling a neglected ecological niche.

I kinda like that it’s a show

So, Cat saw through the whole “hiding behind glasses” thing in only six episodes or so?

Boy, she is never going to let Lois Lane hear the end of this . . . .

FYI: My closed-captioning amusingly renders it as “Ke-rah.”

For the record, my nieces (who are obsessed with STAR WARS) loved it.

Dare I admit I that bought the Christmas Vader ornament for my nieces?

I remember plenty of DARK SHADOWS and PLANET OF THE APES merchandise back in the day, but I guess that was after the shows and movies proved popular?

Don’t remember a lot of LOGAN’S RUN toys. Possibly because the all nudity in the movie scared off toy makers?

Shouldn’t the sequel to Independence Day be the War of 1812?

(Hey, what’s a little alien time-travel between friends?)

Ohmigod, I can’t believe this hasn’t been mentioned yet (And, of course, it was remade on the 90s revival of TWILIGHT ZONE.)

Hah. My dad had that album. Used to listen to it all the time.

No surprise, Santa also pops up on a couple of old episodes of BEWITCHED.

Just to nitpick, there was only one original PLANET OF THE APES novel by Pierre Boulle. Everything else has been based on the movies and TV shows.

Glad to see THE LIBRARIANS (and Bruce Campbell) made the list.

Another contender? “Senticles” on. XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS. “A Solstice Carol,” to be exact.

My money is on Hela.

Real-world answer: You couldn’t get such covers displayed in many wholesale retail outlets if there wasn’t a chain-mail fig leaf of some sort. The subject of just how much nudity you could get away with on book covers was often a subject of protracted marketing debates back in the day, especially when it came to
