I don’t know. I’m sure there are moviegoers in the general audience for whom Harrison Ford is more of a draw than others.

I’m reminded of the comics fans who wondered why Mystique was featured so prominently in the posters for the latest X-Movie, as opposed to, say, Professor X or Kitty Pryde.

“Um, because she’s played

Real-world explanation: Harrison Ford is a much bigger star than Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher. Of course he’s going to be featured more prominently in the advertising.

We get MeTV here in Pennsylvania as well. Channel 11. I’ve been catching up with UNCLE on Sunday nights.

After Nimoy passed away, numerous articles attributed this quote to Spock, completely missing the fact that Spock had been quoting Holmes (or Doyle) at the time. It was a bit annoying, actually.

Oh, yeah, as I commented in response to the previous UNCLE article, you can spot LOTS of Trek guest-stars on UNCLE: Ricardo Montalban, Susan Oliver, Yvonne Craig, Michael Forest, France Nuyen, etc.

MeTV airs it Sunday nights.

I’ve been watching the original show on MeTV and, yes, you can have a great deal of fun playing “spot the classic Trek guest-star.” In some episodes, you can spot two or three.

“Hey, isn’t that Khan and the Greek God Apollo capturing that girl from that other Trek episode . . . ?”

For the record, the script (and my novelization) just referred to her as Jenny the intern. People assumed that she was supposed to be Jenny Olsen, but that was nowhere in the script.

Am I the only one intrigued by the PEZ movie? I mean, think about it: bizarre mutant beings who shoot candy pellets out of a hidden orifice in their throats.

That’s some Cronenbergian body horror shit there . .. .

I think that’s pretty much inevitable. Or, even more awkward, she downloads herself into Dutch’s body . . ..

Regarding Dr. Simms: It’s been established that she’s an expatriate Qreshi, who has possibly fallen out of favor with the Powers That Be. Whether she actually still has any aristocratic clout is up for debate; she might have just been bluffing that ambulance ship.

And, yeah, I was a little disappointed to find her out

I think you’re thinking of Alec Guiness, not Mark Hamill.

Regarding the two versions of DRACULA shot in 1931: The Spanish version is arguably better staged and definitely sexier (Lupita Tovar is much hotter than Helen Chandler and wears much skimpier negligees). But the English version has one crucial thing the Spanish version lacks: Bela Lugosi.

Dean Wesley Smith novelized STEEL. I just acquired the rights and edited the book, which, in retrospect, might not have been one of my shrewder decisions . ...

Yep. Although the Mad Doctor in HOUSE OF DRACULA is pretty much a Jekyll/Hyde knockoff.

And Bud Westmore is, of course, the great-uncle of McKenzie Westmore, host of Syfy’s FACE OFF monster makeup competition show.

Actually, the project went pretty smoothly; it’s just that the movie was not exactly the hit we were hoping for. :)

I love Tim Burton’s first BATMAN movie for its Gothic look and atmosphere, but the extended Prince music video sequences are not aging well . ...

I will go to my grave insisting that STEEL was better than BATMAN & ROBIN, which came out the same year.

Full disclosure: I edited the movie novelization of STEEL, which, I swear to God, seemed like a good idea at the time. (Publishing a novelization, I mean.)

You beat me to the punch. This was the VERY first moment that came to mind ....
