Absolutely not.

Perhaps you were someone bad in a former life? Like... Genghis Khan.

Motorcycles are legal today because they were legal in the past. It’s very hard to take things away from people that already have them.

Back in 2004 coworkers felt sorry for me because I just took delivery of a Lancer Evolution 8 MR. “Maybe one day you’ll be able to afford a big SUV like mine”

More X6s than X5s in Boston.

The M120 engine would like to disagree with you.

Assuming your avatar is on your car, I think I've seen your Volvo a few times before.

If you want a short loop, go up 93 until a bit past Tilton. Get off, then go up the Sawyer Highway to about Littleton. Then head east down the Presidential Grand Tour (not during day, because staties) to Conway, then do the Kancamagus east to west. About 165 miles. Amazing drive this time of year at about 4:15AM when

Yep. The thing to keep in mind though is not everyone has that option. Cities are unfortunately expensive.

I have primarily driven sporty cars, and in the past decade, pure sports cars. I love them, to bits. I drive them as they are intended.

So when is Jalopnik Motors opening for business?

Porsche track rats have deemed carbon ceramics not worth it for over a decade. With every new rev, some brave soul on Rennlist with deep pockets does the experiment to see if they’re worth the massive increase in cost. So far, they answer has always come back to run steel rotors unless you have nothing else to burn

It comes with rotors and calipers that are. The pads it ships with are aggressive, but still designed for street use. They can take some serious abuse, but not hours and hours non-stop on a race track. Same with the fluid. On stock fluid and pads, I’d do a 10-15 minute cool down after 30 minutes.

Whereas the 5 Series... I don’t really know what people do with a 5 Series anymore, to be honest.

Barring exceptional points in history, savings accounts are always dumb as a long-term investment strategy, as they’ll almost always lose to inflation. That’s why low-cost index funds exist for 20+ year goals.

Also... a McLaren 570S and Porsche 911 GT3 can’t handle being driven hard for more than half an hour? Seems unpossible.

Quiet mode mostly exists because of noise regs. For sports cars and super cars, race tracks in particular. There are a significant number of sports/super cars now that with their exhaust in angry mode, actually exceed noise limits. Turning it off keeps you under the limit. Keeping it on means you may not be let out

I've heard nothing remotely bad about the Lotus Evora 400. Nothing. Although I'd have nowhere to put one, I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming Elise.

Those were up until 95. 99 has no such issues.

Now playing

One of the few cars I’ve driven that is significantly harder to accurately back into a parking space than my own.
