It’s just like going to any other business or service for the first time: do your research, conduct a visit to ask questions, and see how you feel. If it gives you a skeevy feeling, then it’s a no go. If it feels right, and the instructors are happy and willing to help you based on your comfort level, it’s good.

It is, frankly, surreal to me, and I’m a born and bred Texan. I have grown up with firearms my whole life (I lettered in Riflery in high school. Some of those people may actually relish it: it might be the very reason they bring it. Most of them are simply insulted or irritated that anyone should have the temerity to be scared of a stranger with a high powered rifle in public.

Shoot, look at the conflict in Ireland: many of those groups did not disarm, but became criminal organizations simply to continue funding their ‘wars.’
