I think that says more about a certain set of Dark Souls fans than about Cuphead. Every game with a sliver of challenge now gets touted by those guys as “the Dark Souls of [insert genre here]”. They never got the memo that hard games existed before Dark Souls.

I also think on some level, gamers have been adverse to the idea of subscriptions. Even though it’s actually less commitment than paying $60 up front and just hoping it delivers a year’s-worth of entertainment, subscriptions carry a more “serious” connotation which probably turns people off.

I would say the industry needs to find a better pricing model rather than try to “trick” players into recouping the costs via glorified lottery scratch-offs.

Totally this. I have no problem with games charging money for a stupid costume, as long as the game is clear and up-front about the price of said costume. Whether it’s $1 or $5 or whatever, I can make the decision about whether it’s worth the money. If I like the costume enough, maybe I’ll buy it.

I think you forgot what story you’re commenting on. The Wolfenstein ads don’t suggest that right wing views are automatically fascist, nor are the nazis in Wolfenstein merely exercising free speech; they’re actively shooting at you.

I still own my childhood SNES, PS1, and PS2, plus most of the their games, but I find it far more practical keep them in a box in the closet and play the games on emulators when I’m feeling nostalgic.

I don’t know, look at Quake Champions. There’s been plenty of toxicity over the game’s problems and there’s been blanket blaming of Saber and their engine, but overall, most of toxicity has been directed at the people in charge (Tim Willits and Sync Error) with whom the buck truly stops.

I actually think it’s silly to assume that a higher-quality redux of the soundtrack should be specifically “orchestrated” in style.

Here’s a list of dozens of Doom MP wads released before Quake:

I swear there must be some research data that shows that shitty art sells better that nice art on mobile platforms, because otherwise why would this happen so consistently?

There was a portable version for rifles, it wasn’t officially adopted by any military or used much at all:

I was in an airport once about 10 years ago when some kids in black trenchcoats who were late for their flight stomped past everyone using “the anime run” alternately yelling “sorry!” and “excuse me!” every 2 seconds, and leaving a commotion in their wake. A fat southern guy in front of me muttered “that guy thought

Here’s hoping they heavily rework the magic casting system. In an ARPG it’s really idiotic to have the entire game pause while someone sifts through menus to cast a spell. In co-op especially, the boss battles degraded into what was essentially just bad turn-based combat.

Don’t get me wrong, the game looks amazing, but they zoomed in on Krillen/Kuririn/Kruiruiruien’s head way too much and you can clearly see the polygon edges on his dome.

I don’t think you understand how this works; every monthly magazine arrives in the mail to subscribers early every issue. According to your definition ALL magazines are leaking ALL THE TIME.

lol, the photo is of a PRINTED copy of the magazine. Clearly this isn’t an individual in the editorial office “leaking” the ad before it goes to press, because printing and binding costs thousands of dollars and is scheduled with a printer ahead of time. A random intern can’t just secretly print out a copy for his own

Wait, why are you calling this a “leak” if the publisher took out an ad in a magazine? That’s not a leak, that’s intentional advertising.

I agree that the Hyper Potions’ track sounds to 8-bit, but the music in your clip doesn’t sound 16-bit either. FM synthesis is so intrinsic to the sound of Genesis games, I don’t think you can really capture the feel of oldschool Sonic without FM synthesizers and someone well versed in programming them.

Hanzo’s health is 1/3rd of Hog’s, but his hitbox is also under 1/3 the size, and his one-shot range is 100x higher. Same goes for Widow, who doesn’t even have projectile travel time. Characters like Mei and Anna who have crippling CC’s DO have quick self-heals. Any character that large with no shield has HUGE

I would agree, the radius should be 3 meters instead of 2 meters, which would make it equal to Pharah’s rockets and Junkrat’s mine. That being said, it’s still equal in radius to Junkrat’s LMB and more than half of 3 meters. The main reason the radius doesn’t feel that big is because the base damage is 45 instead of
