i gotta say, this truck (the un-modified one) doesn't really impress me. I don't hate it, but i am not "wow'd" by it either. This modified one definitely looks better though.

Has your dad actually looked at prices on tacomas? They aren't much cheaper, if at all, and they dont budge much on price, because they really dont have to.

Heres hoping nissan actually builds the next frontier to be similar in size to the hardbody like was rumored a few months ago. But im not gonna hold my breath.

i think the 2nd gen. Nissan Xterras would beg to differ. Lol

I agree, the hardbody was my first truck, but the SE-V6 4wd variant. loved that thing, sold it with 240k miles, and not a single issue. I should've kept it.

Just last week i bought a lightly used 08 Frontier Nismo 4x4 king cab with the 6spd.

If it will let me use the Torque android app, id consider it for my 08 Frontier. I feel like id still be better served with a small android tablet custom installed, and easily removed for outside of car use or loading music onto.

Jeep M715. It is my idea of what a truck should be.

Its been spotted in camo. At least the article said its the titan. Seems legit, doesnt look like any of the other trucks IMO.

Old trucks are the best trucks. My 85 Nissan 720 is not as "broke in" as that toyota, but its a rickety old truck and i love driving it.

Nissan "skunkworks" can Frankenstein a frontier bed onto a leaf, but cant find something in their lineup that they can turn into a proper FR layout for the IDx? What about Renault and Daimler, they are bound to have something that could work.

Id take this over the amarok any day.

Great article Andrew. I look forward to following this build.

Your Move, Nissan......

yep, i used to fish a lot on a texas beach, down near corpus christi, called PINS. I still kick myself for selling this truck. Ive been looking for another one.

i like goooooold. Its not as rare a color i suppose, but most of the ones i see are more of a tan color, and its usually a lexus or toyota. Looks great on my 85 Z.

my old hardbody looked good in "vivid teal pearl metallic". Also looks almost exactly like one you pictured.

I think the Juke took the sales (however few they were) away from the cube. IMO, cube buyers were looking for something funky, cheap, and decent interior/cargo space. the Juke fits the bill on all of those, maybe not as well on interior/cargo space, but its funky and fairly cheap, has four doors and fair cargo space

Now playing

While its not the factory engine, this thing sounds unreal. Sounds like a damn cougar under the hood.

truck was very good to me for the 8 years I owned it, it was my daily driver. Mine had the VG30E motor, which is pretty well known for reliability, as long as you change T-belt and oil when needed. I still see them pretty regularly here in Texas, usually as beater work trucks. It was just a fun truck to drive, rough
