“MMA could be entertaining if it didn’t have exactly the type of person who’d willingly train to actually beat the shit out of someone else in a cage.”

I hope he’s OK. Not the least because if he is, he’s now the mayor of Buffalo pursuant to their municipal code.

Except this would not have been “unexpected” to anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together. As much as it gets played off as the show runners not realizing the implications, it was abundantly clear that this had to be recognized as income and all of the recipients would have been notified well before tax day.

I can’t actually believe that there are folks out there that are upset Oprah gave folks $30k worth of car.

How do you know most people don’t? They took a poll and all those that received cars were shocked that they were going to get an IRS bill?

Take out a loan for it, sell the car, which is brand spanking new, pay off loan immediately... take the remainder and buy something they could afford?

This was more akin to being handed $25,000 plus a bill for $6000. That would piss you off?

And how did that but a damper on that summer? Did your dad sell it for less than $5k? I usually wouldn’t consider coming out ahead with thousands of dollars a “damper”

I understand your point on unexpected expenses, especially for those without means.

Exactly my thought after reading this totally representative headline.

Free’ was actually FREE. No need for quotes. Yes, these people were on the hook for taxes, but every single person was still better off for it. This article is written in a tone that makes it seem that some people were put in a worse situation due to this promotion. Yeah, some people couldn’t afford the taxes, but

The additional tax burden might have diminished the elation, but not one of the recipients was worse off for having been given a fucking car.

Oh no! They had to pay taxes on a free car!

Dude, wasting a 3rd round pick on a flyer is crazy. NFL is a hard-cap league where good teams pay half their salary allotment to three players. Third rounders ALWAYS make the squad. You do that shit with a sixth or seventh round picks...

I’ll step in.

An outlier compared to any regular regular person that takes a rifle, bow, shotgun or crossbow to hunt for turkey, rabbit, deer, elk, etc.

Ok, take him out of the equation. He’s an outlier that draws a ton of deserved vitriol for his past hunting travels. That aside, you have people that would rather eat the meat they hunt than some prepackaged meat from the grocery store. To assume that factory meat is better tobhave because it’s more “readily available”

That’s a wonderfully privileged take you got there. Hunting for food is actually a good thing and keeps plenty of people fed either through their own efforts or donating the meat to food banks. Not everyone can go down the block want shop for the latest in factory farmed cow and chicken.

Their queso reminds me of that scene in Moneyball when Billy Beane is talking about the rich teams, the poor teams, 50 feet of crap, and then the A’s. Chipotle’s queso are the A’s
