It's not just you, no.
You know, these were kind of funny at first, enough to make me tempted to watch the actual show, but now it's becoming increasingly obvious that those were just a fluke.
Yeah, so I guess the guy has never played a Devil May Cry, or a Megaman, or any of a dozen other games I could probably list, where boss fights are the highlight of the experience.
I got a pretty good laugh out of the matchlock joke, atleast.
Cute, but I'd kind of prefer error messages that...you know...actually told me what the problem was so I could maybe fix it?
I feel like such a terrible person because my first thought when looking at these was "man, it took them a while to fully evolve their Pokemon."
So, basically it's like Bayonetta: an action game that focuses on spectacle and triggering quick-time-event executions rather than actually skilled and interesting gameplay. Pass on it then, gotcha.
How exactly do those preclude more involvement from non-male, non-white characters?
It will certainly be quite suicidal, or nearly so, but it needs to be done; there's no way that grand societal failing will ever be corrected until someone steps up to the plate and tries to change it. Or maybe not quite as suicidal as common thinking may insist. That excuse of "oh, but it won't sell well" is becoming…
"You can't honestly say you'd recommend Warframe to someone who was looking for a good female protagonist."
"But if we say that being female is unimportant, we aren't aren't actually making female characters, we are just making characters with female characteristics, which is fine, if that's intent, but it's very different from a story perspective and a lot of this whole stupid thing hinges on the narrative aspect of how…
That's kind of my point, though; it does mean nothing. At least, 90% of the time. Sure, there are some characters out whose personality or narrative arc hinges on them being a specific gender, but there are so many others out there that could have their gender swapped and nothing else would need to change about them.
I know, you would think that's the case, but AAA games certainly don't seem exempt from those kinds of problems.
...Why would they be?
Could just be an issue with graphics card incompatibility or drivers; weird, I know, but I've had it happen on occasion. For example, I recently upgraded to a newer, more powerful laptop recently and when I reinstalled Plants vs Zombies, it chugged like crazy on start-up and lagged when I tried to play it fullscreen,…
Oh, I'm not saying you have to shove women and minorities into every single story possible. Some stories have justifications for the lack of women, best example being Gears of War. In the first 2 Gears games, there were no female soldiers, at all, on either side of the war. However, the in-universe justification…
It's not hard at all. Seriously. Take a set of characters, each with their own personality quirk or identity. Flip a coin for each one, heads for male and tails for female. Congratulations, you now have more than one female in the cast, and they aren't defined by their relationship to men.
