Even if you showed a non enthusiast those two pictures they would say those are two different cars. The mid-late 70's was a bad time for the American auto industry as a whole. The Vette suffered too. and in my book it's just now returning to it's former glory.
That is something worth looking at. Honestly, if the tires aren't up to the test, the whole car can effectively become rubbish.
I've seen issues like that before where guys will buy a car, and immediately go get a different set of rubber if they couldn't get it done at the dealer.
