It doesn't look like there's much of a physics simulation going on for most of the time, though. The "particles" stay in fixed spots on the character, so that could just as well be regular animation...if it is a simulation they're doing a bad job at showing it off.

It doesn't use any assets from the original game anymore since version 1.0 or so. The graphics look very similiar to the original ones, but they're completely new - so you aren't required to own the original game anymore to play OTTD.

The website seems to indicate that it's actually made by Chris Sawyer himself, the creator of the original game...so I guess there's at least some hope that it's not going to be a terrible, shameless rip-off.

Exactly. Zelda is all about exploration for me, which also absolutely requires having optional content. I just played Super Metroid for the first time recently, and that game does this perfectly. There are entire rooms and even creatures many players won't get to see on their first play-through, and even after playing

I think there's a chance that it doesn't take another 5 years this time. We know a new Zelda is in development since at least one year, whereas development on Skyward Sword wasn't confirmed until 2009 if I remember correctly. So I'd say there is a good chance for a late 2014/2015 release.

I've played most Zelda games, but for some reason never played OOT, so before Skyward Sword came out I decided that I finally had to beat OOT. I wouldn't say it was tough, but certainly challenging in some places and some puzzles had me stumped for a while. So I'd say it is possible to create new Zelda games that are

I...umm...okay, you won. DKC is clearly just a tiny little side-project and when they say "we might do another Metroid someday" that basically confirms that they are working on one right now, because what else should they do with all their free time. Fine?

We assume they don't have anything in the works beside DKC because they said they don't, see for example here:

...since when is Retro only working on small, downloadable titles? A new DKCR is a huge project, and they recently said they never work on multiple projects (except for helping out with other stuff like level design for Mario Kart 7 while they have some free capacity at the beginning of a new project).

As with any other Wii U game it is running on the console and streamed to the Gamepad...but that's really not an issue, latency is around 16ms, which is pretty awesome...most likely even less than when playing on the TV.

They have a few renders of houses and a very basic demo of heightmap terrain with a water shader and some buttons...stuff that any game engine supports out of the box. Even if they build their own engine that's nothing a small team can't do in a short amount of time. That's really nothing compared to the technical

One day in the future EA will decide that it's just not worth it anymore to operate the servers. I'd call that crippling forever.

The idea of Tiny Wings is 1:1 copied from an experimental game (called Wavespark) by another developer without any creadit at all, published about 1 year before Tiny Wings. Time Surfer clearly tries to profit from the success of Tiny Wings, but at least it adds something original to the formula.

That strategy would so work with me - I'd totally pay 30$ for Windwaker (havn't played it yet)...I tried getting a used GC disc, but they go for higher prices than new Wii U games :/
