Yeah, from what I understand the PS3 wasn't exactly successful though as far as profits from hardware sales go (I might be wrong here)?

You can argue in the same way that cars are an evolution over horse carriages - they both have wheels, move without effort for the driver and can transport stuff, it's just a tech difference.

The robotics research guys at my university love it because it's a 100$ sensor that can do things you couldn't get before for under 20,000$...and it even gives better results :)

Well, sure - the real question is whether the games on the Wii U will be innovative, but the console itself undeniably is. As always with new platforms only time will tell.

...that's like saying the invention of the car was no innovation because horse carriages could also bring you from A to B.

But you don't get the same asynchronous local multiplayer gameplay on the DS.

I've got to admit I didn't follow it much, but from what I understand isn't that basically the idea of the Ouya? To play mobile games on your TV with a controller?

I think you might need glasses.

Care to explain how it did 3D gameplay wrong compared to other 3D games back then or even to other 3D platformers today? I agree that visually it looks terrible today, but the gameplay seems to hold up (didn't play it much when it was released, played most of it a few years ago).

Same here, got one just for all of Nintendos IPs that are guaranteed so appear on the console sooner or later, whether they're announced yet or not. That alone is worth it for me; the pleasant surprises like DKCR are just a bonus.

Umm, what? They showed both, but in fact their presentation focused so much on the gamepad that everybody was confused whether the gamepad actually was the console or just another addon for the Wii. It even had some playable demos back then.

But the SNES CD became the Playstation, so it was released in some form at least :)

gameinformer isn't impressed either. 5/10.

Well, but you can't produce top tech and stay affordable at the same time. Besides, it is really too early to tell how "old" the Wii U will be compared to the next PS/XBox. I mean, since those will probably not be released for another 1-2 years it is pretty safe to say they'll be more powerful than the Wii U, but who

Of course it is true that the Wii U doesn't use the newest tech, but that's true for any console or technological product - it takes years to develop, and by the time it is released there are newer, more powerful options that could have been utilized.

But that piece of cardboard is worth £153,900!

So. It's a piece of steel. Shaped like an iPhone.

I preordered one since sooner or later I'd get one anyways and don't expect the price to drop much for quite some time, just like with the Wii.

Well, yes, that's kinda what I meant. I was just a little surprised because it sounded like you knew for fact that it uses a 5 year old GPU ;)
