They may have found things wrong with the car, but there's no reason for them to report their findings. Doing so would only tarnish their brand's reputation. If a part was found to be the cause, every single news outlet would have the story posted immediately. There's a clear conflict of interest.

He's shifting the auto gearbox with paddles. Not a dual clutch, or a single clutch unit, it's an auto box.

That's another area Porsche still hasn't admitted they're wrong. You have to pay extra for the steering wheel with real paddles, and it doesn't have any buttons or controls on it. The base steering wheel has the thumb shifters and all of your multimedia and driver info buttons, but you can't have both.

If you DD a sports car it's completely fine to have an auto/pdk/dct/whatever-other-gearbox. That honestly may be one of the biggest reasons all sports cars are coming as "autos" now. They're all dead reliable, quiet, & comfortable. Why not DD a sports car?
You nailed it. There's no skill in an automatic.
Why does it matter?
There are tons of petrolheads that drive an auto as a DD. Zero shame in it. But if you have the chance to buy a manual sports ("sporty" in this case) non-DD car and you tick the 'auto option box, then we break out the pitchforks.
I think it would be reasonable to say that your readers aren't the ones demanding an auto.
The 1M chassis can handle 450-500hp. It shares a lot of components with the E90 series M3 anyway so it's basically an M3 with a 1M body and less weight = better dynamically that either a standard 1M or M3.
The point, is the apparent lack of progress. An LP560 will run rings around a first gen Gallardo SL. That's one gap in "generation" if you will.
