yup not one of my brightest moments, working on a car or otherwise..........
I couldn't agree more there are a ton of people I know which engineering degrees that know the theory inside and out but have no idea how to put it to use in a practical application.
breaking the plug or getting it out? either way I always prefer doing things the hard way......
10k hard miles since this happened I got lucky
yeah not one of my prouder mistakes it was 10k mikes ago and shes still driving strong, when the motor goes shes getting a twin turbo ls7 swap
yeah spent a while coming up with the idea, was kind of a last ditch "lets see what happens" type of thing, I reasoned the porcelain had to be tapered or seated to prevent it from falling out of the bottom of the plug
I might be a tad ocd with my repairs
thanks for editing my post, I dont proof read and posting from a broken smartphone
Thanks she was good as new after banging my headfor a few days.
yeah like I said 1 too many beersinandI had a new torque wrench that was begging to get greasy
fixing it took a few days of creative brainstorming..... ended up getting the other 3 cylinders taken care of, put a 4x4 over the 4th tube with a weight on it, then turned the engine over and used the compression to shoot the porcelain out of the tapered seat (it stuck in the 4x4), then used an easy out and extension…
I am relatively mechanicaly savy (I have a dwgree in mechanical engineering) I made a really dumb mistake doing plugs on my 07 Solstice GXP it was late and I was a few too many beers in, misread a torque spec in ft lbs that was really in lbs and snapped a pluv off going in.......
I have cultivated quite the beard over the past few years. I don't think I have been clean shaven in over 2 years. I actually have the opoosite view from the wife being bearded is almost a requirement at this point. My beard started in 2011 as a playoff beard to support the Bruins. I have succumbed to the bearded…
I've had her to 140 on a straight before with little issue, but I planon lots of suspension and aero tweaks before I try going to fast with her
I'm planning a twin turbo ls7 in my 07' Pontiac Solstice......I too have a death wish
I recently started doing this however I put the dead candles in the freezer for a few hours and the wax contracts away from the glass and pops out rather easily, from there you have nice think glass jars to reuse and the spent wax is more manageable
