As a Geologist, I get a little annoyed when people say that the San Andreas Fault IS the contact boundary between the North American and Pacific Plates. In reality, its much, much more complicated. There are portions of ophiolite from the old Farallon plate (oceanic crust) that have been uplifted in the Sierra Nevada,

did he post the link the the MATLAB script? I'd love to put in my own housing plan and see where the hotspots are

1. Geologists & Geophysicist really do drink more beer than almost anyone else. 2. park rangers and boy scouts don't really get along.

hm, good point.

I never said I liked people doing it in the west. And there are some fantastic examples of us preserving truly astonishing places with minimal structural footprint. You want a good example of how this is done right?

the implication is that people are structures?

Well.. more natural in the sense of "this is what the ecosystem and landscape would look like without human influence." Buildings can be beautiful too though, but I much prefer a pristine landscape where I can trek around and look at rocks all day and see no one for miles than one cluttered with people.

yes, but they're obstructing the view. I prefer my landscapes to be free of structures.

Oh look, what a beautiful waterfall. Lets destroy the scenery by putting buildings everywhere.

Hm, point well made

Do we have the ability to heal them? Maybe for some, but for others it may be impossible for them to realistically find a 'healthy' kind of relationship short of taking extraordinary measures.

I think one of the things that these dolls try to address is people that who, for whatever reason, are unable to form such intimate bonds with other humans. That need is still there, but instead it fuels the person to grasp on to whatever shred of human intimacy he/she can.

I'd prefer something akin to Homeworld 2's 3D space-ness but with less micro and more macro (and of course TBS instead).

This game looks amazing! However I'd say this is 'space themed', but doesn't take place in actual space.

I am by no means someone who watches, knows about, or in general cares about Anime, so forum people, be gentle. And while not technically 'real' anime, the Avatar the last airbender series helped me over a hard breakup believe it or not. The part about Zuko learning to use his past as a source of strength and guidance

wow. Well damn. I guess you'll need some small fusion reactors to make that work then, but till then :S.

How about an actual speeder bike without fans? I seem to remember reading that if the device accelerates, it saps energy from the cavity and the force decreases. However it retains its maximum force when standing still. Ever wonder how all those magical vehicles in star wars just seemed to float mid air? anyone?

Minecraft beat you guys too it

During Highschool, I was obsessed with Electromagnetic Linear Accelerator Weapons (railguns, coilguns etc;). I taught myself circuit theory, went dumpster diving for all sorts of high energy coils and capacitors, and eventually assembled quite the arsenal of handmade/handwound EM coil magnet shooters.

hear that Asgard? We're waiting.
