This is great and all, and these artists clearly got an eye for something, but I'd much prefer spaceship concept art to take into account already well known science: Nuclear/antimatter power generation geometries, micrometeorite impacts at high velocities, what plasma bubble shields would actually require, special

so what does that mean for us non-narcissistic guys? do we just get pushed to the curb then?

correction! its not the voltage difference, but the electric field difference. Source: I have a B.S. in physics.

you'd think i'd be a great place to live.. till you realize that its about as cold as liquid nitrogen outside.

Instead of citing media outlets, why don't you ACTUALLY READ THE PAPERS? Just like everything (even water) can cause bad effects at high concentrations, what matters is not that the element is present, but in what way and in what concentration. Before commenting do your research (and I mean with actual peer reviewed

Heres a good question: Has there ever been an organism that had gills, evolved lungs, and then subsequently re-evolved gills? If not, I can see some support for this general 'trend,' at least among vital organs.

that last line... yeah this has gotten out of hand.

I vote for Ronan Dex's gun in Stargate Atlantis.

oh god no..

Power density is great n all.. but its not the same as energy. 200w/cm^3 doesnt meant squat if it only holds a few joules. in order for this to be truly revolutionary it needs to have comparable energy DENSITY (Joules/m^3) to lithium batteries, or liquid hydrocarbons.

I'd much rather prefer a game destined for gaming desktops instead. Something like portal , mass effect, or even a WOW style universe would be great if paired with SG. Not mobile phones and tablets..

what about duende?

uh, i think you forget: space elevators, a 'warp drive chicago pile' moment, hitting the limit of classic computing density.. yeah can't think of any more.

Writing about future technology is markedly different than being intimately connected with the concepts behind projected future tech. So in that sense, I believe that SciFi writers are not inherently more appraised about the future of technology than the common layperson. That being said, some SciFi writers have

it can be summed up as simply as this: All hallowed are the Ori.

Where can i get this software!?? :D

I work in Yosemite National Park, and you see this everyday almost around 3-4 pm.

Will Curiosity, besides trying to figure out the whole life on mars thing, also be on the lookout/have the capability of identifying possible metal deposits which may be of use when humans start building structures on Mars?
