THIS. I totally need a parent figure in my life. Motivated when it matters, but otherwise, i'm one lazy m-f'er.
Actually, I don't think you did quite get the point of the article. Sure, in order to begin and maintain an exercise regimen, you obviously need the willpower and willingness to commit to it. But the article is saying that when people are just starting out—at a point where exercise is in itself a painful and difficult…
$10 every half hour? Damn, that kid is making more than me.
Umm...No, when you fire out of the gates with an unobtainable goal, good luck with continuing.
When we saw your question, we knew right away we should tackle the topic. :) Like I said in the piece, I've struggled with my weight for a very long time, and if there's anything I wanted to tell you when I read your note it was that you're not alone.
Yeah, I will file all your responses under "completely missed the entire point of the article."
I agree with you that not stopping is the most important thing, and I agree with you that setting goals and pushing yourself to reach them is what brings progress. Totally true statements. It's just that in an article that is geared toward people who have been told a million times to do exactly that ("you just have…
This was obviously a response to a question I submitted. I cannot thank lifehacker enough for posting this. I literally cried as I read this.
Yeah, you lost me at "8:30 pace" in the first line of that workout. I'm one of the overweight people this article is targeted for. I do run already, and my running pace is almost 2x that. My husband lovingly teases me that what is running to me is walking or speedwalking to everyone else. I'm fat and have short…
Great post Alan, thanks! This is just what I've been looking for, something to get me and my SO going again after a too-long break from exercise and a focus on healthy living. It's easy to fall of this saddle mid-life, but important to get back on for continued health.
Just think of it as them renewing their vows, not getting again for the 'first time.' Anyways, with a couple like Miss Piggy and Kermit, they always have to show their love, again and again. It's just how they are, it's to be expected.
Like how your wife stole that other woman's whole "hide prunes in your kid's spaghetti sauce" cookbook, right down to the cover picture, Jer?
Jerry Seinfeld, who cares about Jerry Seinfeld?
I read your sentence wrong. Sorry. I agree with you.
Yes, they really should have deactivated James Dean's Twitter within a few days of him dying in that car crash in the 1950s.
I probably should have been more clear that while I may want to say the things I wrote, I don't because I know that's not the way to answer interview questions.
I agree- you're NOT good at interviews. You're only interested in the company I founded with my blood, sweat, & tears (not the band) because I'm looking to hire someone? Don't you think I might be looking for someone equally passionate about rotating tires? And you can't even fake it through a 30 minute interview? Did…
IMO, the subject is too wide for a single piece. There's a huge difference between a hirers' market, where you fight to get in, and upper echelon jobs where you fit, are sought after, and get to actually be able to turn down on insufficient remuneration.
