That’s kind of a strong statement don’t you think? Platinum has made some good games and some bad games. Bayonetta? Good! Wonderful 101? Not great. Metal Gear Rising? Good! Infinite Space? Pretty rotten. Star Fox Zero? First reviews have been mixed.

Would it really be appropriate to post a story about someone working in the sex industry ever? That’s some career/life destroying shit. And I know Gawker does that sort of mud slinging without hesitation, but Kotaku specifically has generally stopped short of destroying peoples lives.

Important question: Is Sora in this movie? Seven year old me had a little crush on her. My brother liked Misty, but I knew that Sora was the choice of a man (small child) of taste.

Honestly? Nintendo should contact this guy and try to get him to make a real Pokemon Valley game for the NX. This game’s addictive gameplay loop plus their mega IP is a match made in heaven,

I have all the respect in the world for Mr. Aonuma, but I question whether he is the best person to oversee dialogue specifically. His games have never really blown me away with powerful writing. Maybe assign that to one of the new guys?

I would be curious to know how many Zelda games have been released since that original FF XIII Versus trailer dropped. Nintendo can be frustratingly slow at times, but Square Enix is on another level.

It’s still bizarre how FF XII came out just before waifu chasing JRPGs really became prevalent in the market (they’ve always existed but with most of the mainstream JRPGs dead or dying they’re a larger percentage of the whole now). Fran is literally a bunny girl in lingerie from a species of bunny girls that only wear

Question. Very important question. Will this be a terrible version of the game? Square Enix has been CHEAP with their Final Fantasy PC ports. Smudgy mobile game graphics for V and VI, lazy ports of the ancient EA PC releases for VII and VIII, and goddamn Nintendo DS chibi graphics for III and IV.

Oh totally. The stories are rubbish. But they’re not story focused experiences so it’s not a big deal. The problem is when a whole game revolves around advancing a story but that story blows.

This was a down year for the JRPG. Xenoblade X is amazing (the lack of technical ambition in other JRPGs is a terrible thing), but that’s platform locked and has a steep learning curve. Not too many will get into it. Other than that though, Square Enix continued to lack creative talent to lead their projects, Nintendo

You’re right. There was no time travel. There was jumping between parallel dimensions to do the same thing over and over and dealing with an alternate version of a party member.

I agree, it did look good. Good art, good soundtrack, good graphics technology turning the art into a game. I just don’t rank those things as being super important personally. Good presentation doesn’t turn a game with sub-par substance into a good game.

By what metric was Bravely Default an excellent JRPG? The way I see it there are three ways a game in that genre can be great. Great story, great world, and great mechanics.

I, for one, applaud the franchise trying to move beyond “Super Soldier shoots evil aliens”. There have been some mistakes in terms of balancing in game versus out of game content as 343 industries makes their games, but are we really complaining that the game isn’t ENOUGH like Starship Troopers? The original Halo

I’m in. Alpha Dream has a real solid “every other game is great” pattern going. It’s not that Dream Team or Partners in Time were AWFUL, but they didn’t live up to Bowsers Inside Story or Superstar Saga. This game looks like one of the good ones. Adding in Paper Mario is genius.

No, but less ambitious. This game nails the more modest target it aims for. Good at being what it is. Highly recommend.

The loot and chest business is very DOTA reminiscent. I know you’re not primarily a DOTA guy Yannick, but once this is out you should do a quick compare/contrast to figure out which “free” game is actually offering the most value through loot acquisition.

Nope. It has technical problems (Crystal Tools was NOT good for open world development), it has terrible writing and unlike FF XIII it isn’t even a good story being communicated through hammy localized writing... it’s a BAD story being communicated through hammy localized writing. AND it gets distracted because

I will continue playing Fire Emblem 7. It’s my first time playing it. It’s pretty good! There are a few dumb things that I don’t like just because it’s an old game (good luck finding all the content to this game without a guide. Some of the recruitment/side mission requirements are stupidly obscure. And the old

We appear to have some similar tastes! Cool beans. Question: How do you feel about FF Type-0? I actually have been having trouble getting into it. It’s such a 21st century Square Enix game. A+ visual design, A++ soundtrack, A+ character design, B+ combat... but plot and character writing, pretentious “past tense war
