You know, you could almost make an argument for that. Because Gamestop actually threw in some money to help make a US distribution of this game happen, they're in a weird spot where they're kinda publisher AND distributor. So they're the only person with the product and they can control supply/demand and price as

You start with this, the crossover. Then you come back and post on the TAY board what your impressions of Ace Attorney and Professor Layton are based solely on this hybrid crossover game, and if the game managed to make either franchise seem like it's something you could get into.

Monolith doesn't have a bad track record at all, but Nintendo is famous for having the very worst :) The reasons I think Nintendo's bad record is more relevant than Monolith's good record is 1: Monolith set up shop in Kyoto to be more connected to Nintendo 2. Nintendo's been giving other non-Xeno jobs to Monolith.

Er... 2014 according to Nintendo. That's as reliable as "clean for eight months" from the guy you went drinking with last night. Nintendo isn't gonna keep that release date. Not a chance.

Expect more info on that project in 2014. If the scale of that game is gonna be ANYWHERE near Xenoblade then holiday 2014 is the very earliest it could possibly release, and honestly that's probably kinda optimistic. I would be shocked if it showed up here - this is probably all about Nintendo's holiday season

I didn't know that had happened. But now I'm majorly bummed too.

Now you've met two! I don't like ALL Mario sports games (baseball and soccer are kinda meh) but Golf and Tennis are consistently pretty great.

I don't see Bravely Default happening on this Nintendo Direct. They've got some serious selling to do on their holiday lineup yet, let alone a niche release in 2014. I expect Mario Party 3DS, Mario Golf 3DS, Wonderful 101, Pokemon X/Y, and probably a little Mario 3D World or Windwaker HD.

So your response to a video accusing PC gamers of elitism is to respond "We don't only like PC because of graphics, there's also some who are in it because PC strategy games are by far the most complex genre in the entirety of gaming".

Oh my god. I'm gonna be booting up Pikmin 2 tomorrow to see if I can't make that Easter egg trigger. That was the most ADORABLE thing.

This kinda seems like a best case scenario. I feel like if this game went back and dwelled on the old characters and relationships for ANOTHER installment that would kind of be the end of any chance for Ace Attorney to be relevant to anyone who hadn't been along since the very beginning. Yes, the very nature of it

I think I prefer the older style in the examples given. I mean, the basic traits are the same. Same big eyes, same little noses, same angular smiles. It's all recognizably of the same heritage, the distinctive traits are just a little more understated in the older pictures.

You'll be wanting Earthbound (Wii U eShop release from this past week), Fallout New Vegas (regularly available for obscenely cheap on Steam), and SMT IV (3DS retail release that pretends to be high fantasy then doubles back).

How does a release across PC and mobile platforms equate to being run into the ground? I don't see anything particularly objectionable here - what's the issue?

By what metric is Bravely Default non conventional? It's super conventional! It just adheres to classic JRPG conventions, which is not a well Nintendo specifically draws from. But to reference that game as an example of fresh design... no way.

Sounds like kind of a best case scenario actually. The game had excellent mechanics and game systems, but rotten characters and plot that only picked up any momentum in the last act. So I always thought Devil Survivor 2 was a poor fit for an anime. But if it had to be done then it seems like a pretty faithful

I think one of the lessons everyone can take away from this episode is that death threats/suggestions/invitations over matters of video games are never warranted.

All game makers make games for that. That's the gaming public. Those are gamers.

Being outspoken does not make a person an asshole... but it is possible to say things while being outspoken that qualifies one as an asshole. Phil Fish has done a pretty good job of that. Dismissing the game industry of an entire nation as "awful"? Check. (Note that the Japanese guy who asked him that question

Are you basing this statement on anything beyond the particular interaction with Phil Fish? Because Death the Kidd was specifically saying the folks should look at Mr. Beer's OTHER work...
