I think it's between Etrian Odyssey IV and Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing gets points for their brilliant minimalist compositions that are so radically unlike music I've heard anywhere else. New Leaf has impossibly surpassed the Wild World soundtrack.

I think the competition is between Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing for the very top of the crop, because Luigi's Mansion has a small issue with structure (losing the big mansion to explore is a shame, and going back over and over again to the same mini-mansion is also a bummer. If they could have mixed up the order

I think I would prefer that too. Because as is I don't know how much this full experience will cost. I mean, you show that the case pack pricing is either $2 or $3, but I don't know how many packs there are or if there's a meta-narrative to connect them (since they're sold separately, maybe not?) or how many cases

Well, Activision certainly wouldn't make you wait the better part of a decade for your Persona sequel. Instead, you would get it EVERY year! Hooray!

A Microsoft purchase is not impossible. Microsoft has money to spend to lock down content, and Atlus' IP would fill a gaping hole in their library.

Is Square Enix actually financially secure though? My understanding was that when their most recent financials came out they were DIRE. Like, firing their CEO Yoichi Wada and reassessing their entire business dire. The only game they've released since then, Gyrozetter for the 3DS in Japan, has also been a

Yep. If your interest in Atlus begins and ends with Persona then the company getting purchased by a parent that would redirect the franchise elsewhere is one of the worst things that could happen.

These are most certainly well made pictures. The game is vibrant and expressive and distinctive throughout. I believe the sentence you meant to write was "I want expensive pictures, damnit!"

No sir. The only time the magic exclusive word got thrown around was when talking about the FF XIV relaunch. That is promised to never appear on a non-Sony console (though PC is obviously still happening).

Never said FF XV would be exclusive. XIV will be be PS console exclusive, but that's all they actually confirmed as locked down. Even Kingdom Hearts could still be multiplatform at this point.

I like good writing in my Final Fantasy games. Do his games have THAT credential? Because I feel like (XII aside of course) that's been a malignant issue for the franchise since VI.

Nay. Redemption does not come simply from announcing games (though for Square Enix Japan that is indeed an improvement). Redemption comes if and when those games are good. Both announced Square Enix games today are Tetsuya Nomura projects. So... iffy. Yeah, he was behind KH on the PS2 and TWEWY, but his name ALSO

So if I really liked ACR then I should give AC III a spin? Because I totally dug ACR.

Hey, good news! When the first trailer for this came out they were showing off their traversal stuff (running/jumping/climbing) and it looked just bad. Super duper clunky. And that was kind of predictable, that Square Enix Japan would struggle to make an open world, even one only the size of a city, that the player

Oh man, that is INSIDIOUS. Giving journalists a gift of different kinds of fruit? That is a gift of the greatest value! It can take FOREVER to get a proper orchard going. That would have been it for me, straight up. Animal Crossing New Leaf 10/10

Oh yes, and Pokemon. The biggest JRPG franchise around. New pokemon is also a big deal.

Yes it is. But from the sound of it they aren't just doing one game with a Wii U and 3DS version, but instead developing the two games in parallel. So I expect the mechanics to be identical but maybe one or two exclusive characters each way and some unique stages. Wii U will also have a much bigger online mode
