I hear you, but here's the thing - that spanking didn't get the baby out from under the water did it? No. So the spanking wasn't really about the baby's safety, it was about the mom being horrified and incredibly pissed and reacting accordingly. I'm not saying she's a bad mom - my mom did the same to me when I tried

I might be the wrong person to ask because I think depriving your child of food (using food as punishment and all) is super questionable.

I would actually be really skeptical of any system that meant children never did the offensive thing again. I think it's important that children learn through testing boundaries, which means repeating mistakes.

That's really valid. I think the better argument is that if you were spanked in a non-abusive way, then there's no reason to use a time-out system, not to deny that these people exist.

Most of these reasons are actually really lovely!

That's okay, I just need bragging rights.

Well I dunno, if someone TELLS me they have Aspergers or if a person who knows them better than I tells me they do/might, then I'll keep it in mind. But Aspergers is a pattern of behavior, not an isolated incident.

Maybe? I mean it would explain it, but he could have just been a dick.

Oh my God. Fuck that fucker.

Please see the above definition that YOU posted. If you would like to start creating your own definitions for words, go for it. But don't wade into a semantics game with them.

That is literally what I just said, and the opposite of your argument.

Your own definition invalidates your point. If something only has a 1% chance of happening, it is "not expected or regarded as unlikely to happen."

Oh you never disappoint.

Yes dear, I know what the term means and that it's a common insult, I just think it's absolutely hilarious that you expect us all to believe you work in a mental health capacity and yet make such ableist comments. It's great. You keep being you.

Literally my favorite thing that happens on this site is how you claim to be so knowledgable and involved in psychology and call people retarded. It's just the best.

I couldn't agree more. I've always had/preferred close friendships, and losing a close friendship feels like getting hurt over and over and over when a) you lose someone incredibly important to you and b) no one is validating you or caring for you the way they would if you lost someone you were dating.

Some pretty awesome things have come from twitter. Like everything, you have to be hooked into the right people.

Whether he's genuinely confused or not (I say not) his actions on twitter were absurd.

I think the fascination with genitals is natural, just like when you're a little kid and you wonder what a penis/vagina looks like. But that doesn't mean you go up to people and ask what their genitals look like, ya know? Plus there's always the internet. I don't think it's not okay to want to know, but it's okay to

You are the one who has clearly and hilariously missed the point here.
