That was my first thought. Afro-puffs are literally the same thing as little blonde pigtails. Just black girls' hair.

Oh no, I wasn't trying to prove you wrong! I posted elsewhere that I feel like this trend crept in slowly, with the beginnings being unexpected fame like Lizzie McGuire's and eventually becoming the Fame Monster we have today.

I think that's because the trend in tv, particularly kids' tv, is now "find a formula that works and follow it." That's why we have 3,000 Real Housewives shows and so few shows like The Office or Parks and Rec.

As you can see, I have a healthy appreciation for quality children's things :)

Even Lizzie McGuire (which I loved) indulged in this trend by the end. In the movie, she gets a sudden taste of fame when she's mistaken for an international pop star.

Wow. You're completely right. That's scary.

Phineas and Ferb do that! I have an embarrassing love for that show....

If you don't care to have a discussion, why comment?

I don't think the mechanics have anything to do with it though, and I don't think Kickstarter was arguing that it did. I think you've made a false equivalency.

...And now I know the unique pain of snorting Diet Coke out of my nose from laughing so hard.

As you have every right to be. This apology doesn't undo the things they have done. I'm acknowledging this good move forward, but we should still remember the damage that they and other groups like them have done.

Now, wait a minute, that's not at all what happened here.

What's your response to the arguments against it then?

I get Cosmo every month, mostly for mocking, but it really has gotten better. This month there was a full page on "Why Movies Suck For Women" which talked about the Bechdel test and several pages on the slut-shaming that happens so often to women who come forward about rape.

There is certainly a dearth of words to describe a non-married life partner in the context of a marriage-like commitment. I like "partner". Of course, that's not gendered, so it does mean at times clarifying that he is, in fact, a man, but there are worse things.

I've heard from a couple of places that most people get over their homophobia by knowing someone who is gay.

Because the boyfriend/girlfriend pairing or husband/wife pairing indicates an emotional and (hopefully) equal partnership, just like "my business partner" and "my colleague" indicate a business partnership. The "my" refers to the joint relationship, so a longer version would be "person who is the other end of my

I'm also a big fan of Eminem and a feminist, and the way I reconcile it is that Eminem's rap, more clearly than a lot of other people who are as popular as he is, is so clearly a catharsis for him. He's had a dark life and he's looking into it, and its effects on him.

Honestly, that's kind of my feeling about it. If people want to give Zach Braff their money, why not? It's not my money, and I generally like him.

The Veronica Mars fanbase had been clamoring for such a picture for years. The people that donated did so because to them, this was a dream come true. Also, the major movie studio that ended up backing it would not have done so without the funds from Kickstarter and the overwhelming support.
