It's so, so offensive and narrow-minded and ignorant and callous to say "This wouldn't bother me because I have a thick skin and I've been called worse" this isn't the cruelty olympics, however you were treated doesn't make this less awful.

If you have long enough eyelashes that you can put it on without getting it all over your under eye area, go for it!!

I totally agree with this.

That's exactly what I mean. He just couldn't figure out what he needed, and obviously no one in his life was really helping him. He had a strange, tragic life, and wanted better for his children, and did his best to provide it. I think that's kind of beautiful.

I'm sure he could have afforded to live comfortably if he downgraded - but he was also seriously mentally ill. Maybe he wasn't in the mental state to make that transition?

I think Nicki Minaj proves your point. I wholeheartedly agree.

There's a difference between having a conversation about suicide regarding this book and using such a triggering assignment. There's a difference between avoiding triggers and being thoughtful about the mental health of your students and being overprotective.

It's certainly important to talk about suicide. Suicide, and mental health in general, suffer from a taboo and stigma that is so damaging. It discourages those who are suffering from talking about it. A responsible teacher teaching a book that included suicide would have to address it in some way.

That's going to discourage girls from going to pharmacies to get this though, especially if they've been sexually abused. Going from the abuse to talking about it can be a long journey. It shouldn't be a journey further complicated by pregnancy. The first thing that needs to happen is a care for these young girls'

Limiting girls' access to emergency contraceptives will not lower instances of rape. It will only create more teen pregnancies out of sketchy situations that will either result in abortion or teen parenting.

I'm not even going to touch the idea that a pre-teen pregnancy is better than parents not knowing their kid is having sex.

Sometimes I feel like Sesame Street is our only beacon of consistent Good.
