Major Rant, aka reasons why I'm getting drunk alone tonight
Agreed. I'd boycott them, but I already refuse to buy from Forever 21 because of how sketchy their suppliers are. People make fun of me for this, but I refuse to buy clothes that cheap. The real cost is the blood and sweat of laborers in other countries who are paid pennies to work in terrible, dangerous conditions.
Yup. When I worked at a dining hall in college, the university used Kronos to keep track of all our hours, and make sure nobody got more than 25 a week. Even if they needed us to work, we would be sent home halfway through a shift if the managers noticed that completing the shift would put us over 25. I think it's…
Whenever I hear people talk about Area 51 as if it was some big secret alien facility, I remember something my grandfather said once. He was an aeronautical engineer who worked on a lot of government contracts from the 50s to the 80s. He worked down the hall from Neil Armstrong in the 60s, and designed scary missiles…
Aww :( I guess they will do it, then. I get why they would. It's a big part of her motivation to be the mockingjay.
I know! Maybe they will add a reveal of Peeta's leg and Katniss' ear at the beginning of Catching Fire? They'll probably have some scenes of them doing interviews, so there would be room for it.
I agree, absolutely. If I were to pick my favorite part from all three books, it would probably be the first chunk of book 2. Hopefully they added something really good to make up for it?
I know what you mean. They didn't get rid of his vulnerability entirely, though. I just rewatched Hunger Games on netflix last night, and the scenes in the cave, for example, really show that. He really is a great actor, and that makes it work, I think.
Doubt it, but I wouldn't let it bother me. Cinna is one of those characters who, when I think of him, my brain just kinda glosses over the fact that he technically died in the book. Same thing for Severus Snape. Everybody knows he had a bezoar in his pocket. Or anti-venom. Then he sneaked away and lived happily ever…
Aw, I thought Peeta not being able to swim was a good bit. And believable, too, because if they're locked in the village and the mine all the time, then most of the people in District 12 wouldn't know how to swim. Katniss only knows because she used to sneak out with her father.
Actually, the original comment seemed to be really dismissive towards/not understanding of domestic abuse. If that's indeed what was going on here, which I don't think we know yet.
Well, was it a one time fight, or had this man been a victim of ongoing domestic violence? I haven't read any more about it, so maybe you know, but if not I would reserve judgement.
Have you tried swimming? It puts so much less stress on the body, but you're still moving around.
Wups, I meant to say as well - there is no story. When the image first showed up online, there was no story attached, it was just the image, leaving the viewer to wonder what the hell it is.
Okay, as someone who has been scared by Jeff the Killer for a couple years now, I'll share what I know. First time I saw him was on a forum dating to about 2009 that I got to through a link from a creepy pasta. Creepy pasta, if you don't know, refers to scary stories that people share online. Most of them are crappy,…
Thank you so much! I just sent you an email.
This: "its creators seem to think the key to "art" is just presenting mundane, hollow moments and then waiting for the audience to imbue them with meaning. Dude, that's your job. Point to something. Show me something. Say something that means something." Reminds me of Tiny Furniture, which I watched for the first time…
Exactly. She's butchered the synopsis of Source Code, as well.
Re: Side Effects- I would argue that this is a pretty inaccurate synopsis of the film. Yes, it is ridiculous, but for other reasons. Or were you just trying to avoid spoilers?
Yup. I use straight talk, and it's really painless. I've had a few issues with service, but it is overall reliable and so cheap. I'd recommend it to any student or person on a tight budget.
