I do not recall NMS running any elaborate advertisments, this is just one overly eager dev that promised too much.

Winning wars on ideas is hard/impossible because you can’t exactly erase ideas once those ideas have words, values, and meaning.

I think that there’s a few moves Konami could make that would make people happy, or at least happy-ish.

You can always call them or do the live chat and ask if they know why that unit was refurbished. At worst they’ll tell you they don’t know. But if you’re lucky they’ll tell you something like “the customer didn’t like it and returned it, so we can’t sell it as new anymore”.
Maybe. I’m in no rush to find someone trying to kill me to put it to the test. But it doesn’t hurt to think about bad things as long as you don’t let the negative thoughts drag you down.

It’s going to be sort of the same deal as before. People are still going to have to do their due diligence and research exactly what they’re getting because same name =/= same specs.
This is just like their re-using of the “Titan X” name. Only power users are going to know the difference. Little Timmy with the rich parents who buy him whatever he asks for are going to not know the difference.
4k might actually make a bigger difference with laptops than with monitors. Just the same as it makes a bigger difference with monitors than with TVs.
It’s not a single-solution thing. There’s a lot of stuff beyond the physical cooling implementation that goes into keeping laptop GPUs cool.
The G74 series has a lot of venerable designs.
A quick search on Newegg shows only MSI for the GTX 1080 laptops. If you have the money, you’re in luck!
