@komododave: That is the beauty of the free market at work. You make the smart moves, you build the better car. You're gonna do better and look better doing it.

What a boring looking thing.

I wish Mulally would touch me like that. :(

Give 'em a break. Not many of the Explorer's buyers need more then a crossover. Simple fact of life.

@rotaryfreakjoe: I'll take the Benz. By a long shot. No comparison, really. One is artful, thoughtful. The other looks like it took no thought at all to design.

Ah man, my girlfriend would get a kick out of this. I do not though.

New cars are so very, very boring. To the Batmobile, er, Tempo!

@87CapriceEstate: Alaska is a big place, but I'm currently living in South Central AK. Which is not far North enough for frost heaves to be a serious ailment to roads. Sunny Kenai Peninsula is where I live, and where most of the roads have been constructed within the past 20-30 years. As such the asphalt is relatively

@v8corvairpickup: Oh shiz. I think its time for a certain Ford Tempo Fanatic to raid the Audi forums, posting up info and images on all things Ford Tempo AWD.

@87CapriceEstate: There are many. When the roads aren't twist-filled, Dead Man's Curve inspired mountainous roads where one wrong move could mean instant death, they are simply long straight freeways. As an added bonus, most of the asphalt is new and pot-hole free. Whats more, because of Moose hazard, all roads have

I would say the Chevy truck fans. Not the honorable veterans that are the pre-1988 Chevy truck warriors. I'm talking the "enthusiasts" of the chrome faced Silverado and the short bed, regular cab GMC Sierra of the 1990s. Awful trucks, awful fans. Bring me the naked lady decals and the loud exhausts!

@FjordGreenPorsche: Too true. And hey, they aren't exactly slow cars. My brother bought an ex-cop car Crown Victoria a couple months ago. That thing will hit 140 in no time. Best of all: no ridiculous levels of RPM, it just kind of flows to triple digit speeds without skipping a beat.

That looks like it would be a good deal more entertaining then, say, taking an actual track car to a track.

@RadioFlyerPartDeux: Gotta' love them early model Tauri. I am of the belief, that even the lesser Tempo was a more reliable vehicle (as a whole). While they were plagued with weak suspension components, I think we can overlook this small, insignificant issue in view of the fact they were the first Fords to boast fully

Keep your damn 6.2L, just get the weight down and they might be able to read the decklid badge on the GT500.

@Mad_Science: When I said brand-new, I meant 2010. Let me rephrase: a 1984 Ford Tempo GL Diesel Sedan equipped with the 2.0L Mazda-RF Diesel I4 (N/A, single barrel carburetor) and Ford's own FuelSaver 4spd. (manual with overdrive) not only pollutes less CO2, but gets far superior fuel mileage than a brand new Toyota

@Mad_Science: You sir did not, not, not address the fact California is synonymous with anti-car-ism. At least today. Hybrid capitol of the world. Forget about Tesla.

@RadioFlyerPartDeux: I have found myself tangled up with life. Busy, but productive. I've been keeping both Tempos road-ready however, and each are running like a dream. So well in fact I'm thinking of taking on a third: a $500 1992 Topaz GS.
