As a person with a Ford and the top-of-the-line infotainment system (for 1989, that is) I can attest to, uh, where was I going with this?

This QOTD makes me want to crawl under a rock and weep for a month.

@HurtsSoGood: Wrongness in this post makes Ford Tempo Fan a sad panda.

@trx0x: Everybody and their mom has a BMW. When it comes down to it, they're no better than your run of the mil Dodge Caravan, or Toyota Camry.

@agjios: Is it wrong that no car mentioned that is supposedly better, actually seems more desirable?

What better car could you get for 25k? A Camry? Maybe a V6 Mustang? Or about fifty Ford Tempos?

1970s Ford Pinto (should explode when rear ended)

@DrLemming: This is the same argument people like to play in regards to the Tempo.

@LTDScott: The Fairmont was a sad car. Technologically advanced maybe, but come on. You've got to be more than that. Tempo was. Taurus was. They went the extra mile in every aspect, especially in design.

Indescribably beautiful, and if it works better than the Chevy Camaro Convertible Concept (our the 4C as I like to call it) I would say its probably worth the asking price.

You got stuck, yo.

I like the Mark IV too much to go for the lesser VI.

@DieselDutchman: You are incorrect sir. While California did ban the diesel-equipped Tempo/Topaz from their state, little known fact is those dirty-diesels polluted over 2 tons of annual CO2 LESS than a 2009 Toyota Camry (equipped with V6).

Anyone remember back in 1984 when Mazda built diesel engines for Ford? The 2.0L RF I4 fit Ford's '84 Tempo quite nicely, returning an EPA figure of 43MPG.

Woah, talk about fortuitous coincidences! A '75 Cherokee (almost identical to this DOTS entry save for different rims and paint scheme) just showed up at the local Everybody Rides. Certainly not as flashy or meticulously kept as this one, but I say the Alaskan-roughened '75 has more character with its crooked grill

1980s car ads are the best. Hell, 1980s cars are the best.

Swing by Google Images and tap in 1958 Plymouth Belvedere. I don't think they got the Golden Commando 350cid. V8 (with an 8-barrel carb) until 1959, but by the styling was a little too much.

@beercheck: Jalopnik's own Murilee Martin murdered a Ford Tempo. Dontchaknow?
