@87CapriceEstate: I know a guy with no less then three running Ford Tempos. Two of which have all wheel drive, but only one has working all wheel drive.

If you pizza when you're supposed to french fry, you're gonna have a bad time.

1988 was the year Ford refined their Tempo line to new levels. 313,262 people bought a brand new Ford Tempo in '88. I am gonna' take a guess and say that's more then either the BMW or the Hyundai sold.

Ford Tempo Fanatic approves.

@eldo500: Correction, High Specific Output FTW! The XR5, along with its four door brethren the Topaz LTS and its Ford cousins: Tempo AWD and GLS.

@87CapriceEstate: Believe it or not, there are a very large number of Ford Tempos in my town. More so then any other compact. It should be said though, that most look like they are hardly fit for road use. But they manage, somehow.

@Novaload: I just ended up buying a new pair. Mine wasn't really a worst case scenario deal, but they were noticeably yellow and one of them had a leak on the top seal. Resulting in the lamp being fill up to the bulb in water (amazingly, the bulb still lit up).

@skitter: Sometimes life as the Ford Tempo Fanatic can indeed be disheartening. But its comments like yours, reminding me that with all my promoting of these unloved cars, it does in the end make a difference.

@car_guy2010: Indeed they did. From 1984 to 1986, you could buy yourself a Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz equipped with a Mazda-derived 2.0L I4 that was powered by diesel. Weak yes, but the figures say 43MPG and owners claim over 50.

I thank you Murilee. My life is complete now that a Ford Tempo has been featured on your DOTS series.

Australia can have its Holdens. As long as we've got Town Cars and Grand Marquis' I'm a happy camper.

The driver is a braver man then I. One Lumina isn't stable enough for highway use, so I can't imagine two glued together are any better.

I actually dig it. The looks have potential, but you know that what will inevitably happen:

Screw the Venza wannabe. I'll stick with some wood paneled Roadmaster!
