We definitely need another crossover, especially a crossover created through platform prostitution and given to a brand who's image was supposedly based on rugged, durable product.

@Upgrade to Tomsk Diamond today!: When I lived in the Lower 48 there didn't seem to be many Tempos or Topaz. All over in Canada and the U.S. though.

@F*ckingPlushroom: These things are true. I'd say 1/4 of the ones I see are in okay condition. I did see a fabulously awesome 1984 Topaz GS Sedan in MINT condition. Almost perfect, except the trunk was covered with decade old bumper stickers from the days of Reagan.

@A strolling player is: Gold Member!: I don't know if awesome is the correct word.. Strange perhaps, and small. But hey, I like the fact that for every one Camry there are three El Caminos and two Rancheros, and a couple dozen Ford Tempo AWDs.

Escort driver, make CE14 owners everywhere proud! Give it to those high-and-mighty import drivers.

@chrystlubitshi: There are more El Caminos and Rancheros then Corollas and Accords in my town. No joke.

@F*ckingPlushroom: Old Fords are still commonplace around here, at least they were until about two years ago. Still see a good number, but an obvious diminishing population (not on endangered species levels though).

I want me some Camper Special.

@F*ckingPlushroom: I might track down one of the many pre-1987 models (included several all wheel drives and a couple diesels), but unfortunately most are not in very desirable condition.

Dear Tomsk,

@Jon Roebuck: I do not file for unemployment. I have two jobs! I thank Jesus, and the Ford Tempo.

Fuck that. Ford Tempo GL, $600, insurance is as cheap as you can get, and it will go on forever. Anyone who lost their job and is driving a brand spankin' new Saturn Aura has NO sympathy from me. Not that they care, when they are driving a $24,000 new car.

I'm not seeing how this is any better then our '98 Caravan.

I am sick of GM.

@Pleco, king of the junkyard: Sadly I have not. With my current financial situation, such happenings are merely dreams. In the winter season I live from paycheck to paycheck, barely covering the essentials.

I am not impressed. It should be called the Volvo Appearance Package. Unless there were significant hidden upgrades (EcoBoost anyone?), it looks just like a Volvo minus the AWD and the power.

Wait. The North American Car of the Year was a GM? Come on now. I believe that COTY was a Hyundai.

Most importantly, what does he drive?
