“Ford’s total car deliveries skidded 21 percent last month” - that tends to happen when you don’t sell cars anymore.

Y’know, people don’t like it when you tell the truth, especially when it gets in the way of their utopian fantasies, on which they are building their 3-5 year plans. Will we ever get to the point of having all fully electric vehicles? Maybe. But not with current technology and resources.

I've never worked at a dealer but I have worked in retail. This seems dumb. If you own the inventory and it isn't moving across your floor, you're losing money on it. Each segment of time it sits there, it's costing you money.

Missed the fact that today is

I found that a lot of the tech has shifted from things that were convenience based (bluetooth, GPS, radar cruise control, etc.) to things that are safety based (automatic braking, lane keep assist, etc.). I don’t know about anyone else but advanced safety features like these are not enticing to me at all.

“are still *asking* above msrp”

If anybody is familiar with the “Crossing The Chasm” series about technology adoption in consumer products...

Tesla coils, rolling lightning

No. Giant vape pipes

I’d buy it just to troll for Tesla’s.  I’ll see your Ludicrous mode and push all-in with God Mode.

I go to the dealership on purchase day like I’m going on a multiday hiking/camping trip. I’m there to annoy and frustrate them. I break them down. I’m certain that every dealer I’ve ever worked with short of one has wanted to physically harm me by the end of the transaction.

Oh, Buick’s going straight after their throats

Wait... a people-mover with a solid divider between driver and passengers?

Um, that’s a pretty big major difference. Who wants to look at the back of their driver’s head? Or have to look out the windshield to see all the poors?

Are you trying to tell me that government subsidies supporting a specific market that doesn’t have the proper market to support said investment is a bad idea?

If no one is buying your car, it isn’t desirable and at the right price.

I don’t think the problem is the idiot not driving the autonomous vehicle... its all the other idiots on the road actually driving their current vehicles.

I like to think of a self driving car like a referee in a basketball game. If you think you can design a robot or computer system that can run down the court and make all of the necessary judgement calls in a basketball game, then it’s possible that you could create a self driving car.  In my opinion it’s not going to

The technology around autonomous cars is impressive, but I doubt we’ll see anything close to what’s been promised in our lifetimes. Getting a car from point A to point B without hitting anything is do-able, but that’s only half the issue. Cars have to navigate changing cityscapes, unpredictable pedestrians and other

Maybe, but another major point that seems to get missed is that most people don’t want to trade the theory of seamless roads to the drudge of stop and go traffic and dealing with idiot people walking while looking at their cell phones instead of where they are going.
