If diesel-gate ends up killing all diesels, something like this will be the next best option for a real work truck.
People don’t rock crawl $60,000 one tons.
Jack Welch fucked the world by cutting cost at GE and being rewarded.
Not for the rest of the world. Not everyone lives in a big city.
There are lots of places in the world where there will not be readily available charging stations. The remote regions of South America and Africa come to mind first. Hell, most of the “fly over” portions of the United States will be a challenge other than along the interstates.
When people can’t buy the car they actually want because of regulations....I predict a political upheaval.
I just looked it up again The long term “reliabilty” numbers are a little shady in my opinion. They are the number of repairs for three year old cars in the previous 12 months.
Those dollar amounts are per day, not per hour!
If you could buy a Koito headlight bulb that will last 10 years or a GE bulb that will last 1 year....for the same price, which would you choose?
JD Powers doesn’t tell the whole story. If I remember correctly, the “Quality “ score is based off of issues in the forts 30 days. “Reliability” score is based on the first year. It really does not give an indication of how good the car will be 5 or 10 years later.
I have worked for Japanese auto parts supplier is the past. I have had many conversations with staff members who have worked stints in other markets. They have had real challenges over the years in some of their plants.
I know that somebody somewhere has an equation for profit maximization that factors in how much bullshit a person will put up with before they go postal.
The fact that they probably build a lot more stick shift cars in India than the US ...an thus probably have the experience to know how to build a good transmission, is what made me take a chance on it.
The wife’s Civic is built in the US but the 6 speed manual transmission is from India. I hope Honda’s supply chain management made a good decision, but I don’t feel as confident as if it was Japan sourced.
My experience with Japan built small cars has been amazing. It is amazing how well built it is for a sub $14,000 car.
Maybe he is morally opposed to them paying workers $2 hr....and the OEMs charging the same price as a USA built model.
I check where they are built.
