A boy in my neighborhood had Street Fighter II for SNES. I was in second grade. He was two years older and a frequent childhood foe. When I continually beat him with Blanka, no matter what he pulled out ("I'm BITING YOUR HEAD HA HA HA!"), he broke down in tears. One of my favorite childhood memories.

There is a really simple solution to this... shop a locally owned toy store that carries smaller, not name brand lines (Seattle natives: think Magic Mouse Toys). At such shops, toys are more likely to be divided by type rather than brand. And, once you take Barbie and GI Joe out of the equation, you've cut out most of…
