Amen. The first gen is still the best. I like this more than the last though, so that's a good thing.
They love Americana in Japan but let's be honest if you're looking for a well made, well priced car Japan has the market covered far better than GM.

I kinda liked these when they were new here in Canada, that is until I drove one and was wildly disappointed. Needless to say the dealership did not last long, but they did switch up to Lada's before their last gasp.

I think non car folks see a Land Rover of any kind, and think Jeep. I know all my kids and their friends did till I educated them on the brand and the models contained within.

My experience is that non car folks do recognize the Beetle but don't know what it is. VW? Punch buggy? You, know, that round car. Thus my pick for the Beetle as 2nd place.
