but isn't the question, the most recognizable? If you don't know or car about cars your not likely to recognize any outside of your own circle of life. And since that is so different for so many, their answers would likely not move the needle on any one car as the answer would be a simple VW, Ford, Lada... Whatever.

That's my point. The car may no have been available where you live but at sone point you became exposed to it. The car has been around so long in films, as a toy and now globally that it's hard to escape exposure to it. And unlike a fiat 124 or a Corolla the car incites emotion even in those who have never owned one.

I agree Beetle is up there, but because the Mustang is an aspirational car most people imagine they can afford i'd still rate it a bit higher. I'm not saying it's the worlds best car nor even most desirable just that a surprising number of non-enthusiasts will know of it.

Also true fact, everyone who bought a T5 knew they had in fact bought a Mustang. The brand was strong even without the name on the car.

a car doesn't need to be sold somewhere to be known. The Mustang has been in constant production since 1964, it's appeared on movies, TV shows and as toys. I grew up with a 2CV two doors down. Never gave a damn about it or what it was, it was just some car and later some Citroen. But when I first discovered the

Toy cars and movies? I disagree.

Jeep is a brand though, like Ford or Ferrari not a specific model.

Exactly. Stand in a crowd anywhere on the world and ask what a 2CV is? Blank stares. No ask what a Mustang is and I bet globally it outranks horse, airplane and school mascot.

So you learned of the Mustang as a teen thanks to a Movie? So you then recognize the name. That's one.

Be honest, when did you first hear of or see a Mustang? There's a reason Mustang Clubs are worldwide and in many countries where the car has never sold. I sense a bit of anti-Americanism on your part. And just so you know, I'm a dual British and Canadian citizen.

It may not have sold there but it was known. I still have my white with red interior 65 Mustang Fastback with steerable wheels I got as a kid in Bungay England. That toy and many other toy Mustangs is why there's a red '65 Fastback in my garage now.

Ford Mustang, with Volkswagen Beatle in close second.

He's ten. Been on the podium in all 6 races this season including a win, runs his own Twitter account. Formed a "team" and has his teammate's parents run the Facebook page and website, so there's a glimmer of hope. Wanted to race since he was 4. Told we had to wait till he was at least 8 only to find kids who already

No, he's just right. I owned 5 and hated that I was grouped in with all the dicks driving them. Sad, but true.

"Money trumps all, all of the time." That's how he became a billionaire I'd bet.

One can hope. My son wants to be a pro driver and I'm not rich enough to take him far enough.

I'm with Tom on this one. No. And for the guy with dribble issues, get that checked out.

Hey, me too! I draw a mean three quarter drag Chevelle and Mustang. As far as I ever got, which is sad considering I made my living as an Art Director.

I want to drive it. Really. Once.

Gold wheels make everything look faster.
