@rocugbg001: Yes it is, I've been doing it for more than a year now, you can write in .doc, .docx, rtf, txt, .odf etc... what version are you using.

@Knef: Not all, I actually find linux to be better, well much better than windows or Mac, the only problem with linux is it's percentile in the OS market, commercial products aren't available, most have very good replacements, I use them and I'm totally satisfied, linux has everything I need, but some people just need

@kwanbis001: I agree I hate the 2007 ribbon it slows everything down, and on a Mac it sucks even more. I prefer the simple but powerful UI Openoffice has

@m4nm4n: I mean after you're through all that you feel good about yourself because you are breaking barriers, you know what I mean? after my first linux setup I kept tinkering and the more I learn the better it is and the better it gets, the more things I found out that I didn't know. I would be sad, if had gone the

@JCDescy: I've used ubuntu for 2 years, and well I give you it's not as easy as using Mac, but mac locks you down and windows does 2. Linux gives me the freedom to do whatever I want, or need, plus modify my OS to my liking which I really like, plus it runs much faster than both, trust me I replaced OS X on my macbook

@virtualspectre8: same here and, for the UI, at the end of the day I like to make my own, I configured my whole system to my liking and my needs.

@rpjrugby: I Think they are just icons so people know it's an office application.

@forpeterssake: Most applications are diferent, if you're a windows user, and you are using a mac you wouldn't know what most of their programs are, same if you are going to windows, I've been using linux so much that I don't recognize applications in either, I have to look for them and see if i'm correct. It's

@SpencerDub: Actually, my configuration of linux right now probably looks, better than aero or Aqua. Also: You know what powerpoint is because you've been using it for what your whole life. But if you saw powerpoint for the first time without knowing what it was, what would you do, you open it, see what it is.

@Kyle Wegner: It's not very configurable, because the libnotify is basically at it's birth, it's like a beta, a very stable beta, but still a beta. They used it in the OS to test it as a new feature that they developed, but a UI configuration will come soon enough.

@Oranges w/ Cheese has 2 cats! ahahaha.: exactly, I took linux as a challenge I liked computers and I disliked Windows, switched to Mac, on my PC I installed linux, liked Linux so much that my macbook now runs ubuntu, and I haven't had any problems with it, it actually runs better than Mac OS X, and windows. At first

@endolith: actually it's really easy, u just open terminal and paste, most things in linux are really easy, I barely use the terminal, and when i use it it's because I wanna try something new or cool, linux is easier to set up and easier to use than windows. Also to fix those notifications you can get a .deb file from

@Doomstalk: Non- it's useless, it brings nothing new to the table, it's an overgrown ipod touch with a little more bang, but it cost to much for what it does, and Apple doesn't even have the decency to change the UI to better fit a tablet like device the home screen just looks weird, you have a bunch of ipod touch

@k-napped: not really I would still prefer a full fledged OS, but with a multitouch interface, i mean there is so much you can do, and linux has such a small footprint, that it would run great

@Unionhawk: remembe each tab in chrome, is basically like a separate browser, if you open 9 tabs, you basically have 9 instances of Chrome running in your sistem.

@Jack0205: UMMM, I really don't like trying out the portable OSe's, or from CD, they are usually much slower than the actual OS, and i find it better to dive straight in, I did it almost a year and a half ago, when i installed my first Ubuntu partition. And will never look back. I got all the programs I need,

@sqlfanatic: actually it's quite easy now, I haven't installed one linux program from source. There are programs like Synaptic manager which you look for the program it downloads it and installs it. There are what you call Sources, or PPA's which contain the program you want to install and by just adding it to the

@BishopBlaize: Yes exactly, I haven't found any feature in GIMP that is missing, everything is there, and if something is missing it's probably something only a handful of people need. I do just fine with GIMP, and same here, just because something is an industry standard doesn't mean it's good, just look at windows.

@flpwch: I gotta say open office is the same thing, I went from microsoft office 2007 to openoffice without a hitch no problem, imagine what sort of difference it would make someone going from office 2003, (NONE) . And when I was in school art class to be specific, where they taught us to use photoshop, I always made
