I would argue that there is a difference between the 1" sensor on the RX-100 or the micro four-thirds featured in the video and the 1/2.3" sensor on the average P&S.

I recently made the switch from a DSLR to the little Sony RX100 and 95% of the time, I am happy I did so. Not having the burden of my "kit" is really quite liberating. I even get shots I wouldn't have before as the camera is less conspicuous and I can carry it everywhere.
