Carbon fiber is arguably a better material for truck beds than steel, in the same way that aluminum is worse. It has better impact resistance so it won’t hole, tear, or dent as easily as metal.

Probably wont even be repaired in place. Molded plastics are easily made so if you want to slap on a new bedside, unbolt the old one, bolt on the new one with some seam sealer. Repairs will be that easy. A good application is the SeaDoo Spark. 2 piece composite hull, often used for rental duty (read: damaged often).…
Can confirm repairs are limited on aircraft, because the repair is too strong compared to the original, creating multiple stress points. That’s clearly not a problem on pickup bed.
Agreed. I’ve worked a bit with cfrp and can confirm it is way easier to repair and make look good than anything made of metal. Especially if there is a complex shape.
I’m guessing they’ll be using more of a “pressed chopped strand” type of CFRP rather than the woven sheets that we think of for “carbon fiber”. More like what’s used in the BMW i3 or Lamborghini’s “Forged Composites” stuff. That should be a lot more repairable and maybe less brittle, even if it doesn’t quite have the…

Please Don’t pander to me, seriously. It’s insulting to me and every reader here who knows better You tried to put one over on us twice and you’re still doing it, still brutalizing the English language to leave “from Russia” in there when it has no fucking business being in there.
But it still has that awful dash/infotainment screen bolted to the center of the dash. Yuck.
what the heck man? This isn’t accidental, this is just the annual city vehicle curling bonspiel. In the opening frame, when we pick up the action, you can see the public is sitting 5 and has jammed up the house to try and control the end. In a great attempt to clear this out, the city plays the blast for an amazing…
As a 2016 Camaro owner I can tell you its completely un-needed. The car is great for visability when compared to other sports/muscle cars. I’ve never had an issue and I back in everywhere. thats what mirrors are for.
Consumers: We want more fuel efficient cars.
Industry: Here’s a 50 mpg CRX.
Consumers: AWESOME.
Government: That’s not safe. Make it heavier.
Industry: These new cars are safe, but not very efficient.
Government: Unacceptable. Make them more efficient.
Physics: Psht. Heh.

Definitely a hot topic and I’m sure no one on the PR staff wants to get fired over it
“Second guess, he out worked (in speed, quality, or both) the others and they didn’t like that so it became a game to find every reason to get rid of him.”
