It’s absurd, the gender politics are abysmal, and if it was still available on regular cable like season 1 (instead of AMC+ for an extra $10/month), I’d be watching season 2.

I suspect she was directed that way as an indication of how repressed the character is. She needs a passionate vampire + torture to release her inner freak, which she does ... but still remains pretty flat, so maybe not.

The dialogue is awful, garbage. Dragging Poe along as a comic relief sidekick was a serious error. I like Mackie, but I don’t think he’s a great fit. On the other hand, I’ve only seen the first episode.

FWIW, Michelle Sagara’s Cast in Wisdom (her 15th Chronicles of Elantra book) just landed a couple of days ago. Chapter 1 is a a convoluted mess, but things are picking up at the start of chapter 3 :).
