As someone who struggles with mental illness every day—in myself and other family members, some of whom have been institutionalized at one time or another —I have one thing to say: Stop. Just stop. You look fucking ridiculous.

I hope this doesn’t come off as confrontational or bad faith, but you mention the negative portrayal of the character’s mental illness as being an issue. What would you want to see in a positive portrayal? Is that just someone who’s diagnosed and getting treatment? Simply living with it? Something else?

Its not an “inaccurate stereotype of a mentally ill individual” its an accurate depiction of THEIR mentally ill individual. This is no different than complaining that villains can’t be bald because that paints bald men in a bad light.
