"the five-year, $125 contract he signed in 2010 but didn't kick in until 10 years later."
I really don't follow the NBA, but when I saw this post I wanted to know if the Cavs won tonight. I'm not sure I'm ready for a world where the Knicks beat Lebron's Cavs.
If you agree that it's a conundrum, why the sensationalist headline? I'm a Chelsea fan who happens to also like Barca. I don't think I'm being biased here but this commenter brings up a pretty vital counterpoint that somehow isn't represented in the article.
Pop has that John Tortorella thing, where he's kind of in on the joke. With Belichick, there's no joke to be in on.
The majority doesn't get to vote on the rights of the minority. That's the cornerstone of civil rights. Native Americans, as with all Americans, are afforded the right to live free of hate speech being directed at them (only right now, they're not).
Two massive human beings shouting about how tough they are as they both step behind teammates and referees. Hey, everyone, the NBA is back!
Getting a lifetime ban lowered to 8 months is the most European thing ever.
While hitting like a Mack truck.
Any Deadspin article featuring CSKA of any sport is bound for glory. Could you guys start filing these to "Russia" or somesuch? That timeline would be legendary.
Deep Massachusetts is a terrifying place. The people from the red ring around Boston (i.e. 128 and west until Amherst) are about as shitty and provincial as you'll find north of the Mason-Dixon.
BC did it better. http://deadspin.com/bcs-andre-will…
"People in Buffalo cried when Terry Pegula bought the team, even though he could easily end up being a cheapskate and a shitty owner and Bills fans could end up wishing the team had fled for Toronto anyway."
That's not trucking, it's brutal headhunting at its worst. Flanagan had just taken a pass and Jensen green-lighted him. Bad hits happen all the time in the NHL but most aren't nearly as malicious as this (because fighting).
As a follow-up, the NHL has now said that the circumstances here are different than Varlamov's case.
Why are you giving him a break? He said basically the same thing two weeks ago, why are you chalking this comment up to "emotions?" It's clear he feels this way and the NFL will punish him severely for it.
Interesting note: when Semyon Varlamov was accused of domestic assault a year ago, the league took no action and the charges were dismissed for lack of evidence. Here, they reacted MUCH more strongly. I wonder if this is due to the Ray Rice precedent or if there's more (evidence) to this story than Varlamov's.
So Deadspin is anti-fighting in the NHL (though curiously doesn't villify non-fighting predators on the ice like Cooke, Downie, and Neal) and calls out the NFL for covering up concussion data, but it's totally cool to slo-mo a boxer getting his brain scrambled?
It's a beauty, but that Arsenal goal is an all-timer.
The Lambert/Keane incident was pretty nasty and his response was acerbic, but it pales in comparison to what Arsene pulled on Mourinho. Jose's response to that specific line of questioning was mature and muted.
