Boy, there are some crazy mismatched metrics up there.
It doesn’t help that Nintendo has been incredibly slow in bringing their consoles up to “modern” standards in terms of online features such as proper app support, and a unified digital catalog of purchases.
Why does everyone keep forgetting how successful the Wii was?
I think Mario and Zelda are fine ways to attract fans, but Nintendo’s strength is also its weakness, the time they spend making finely polished games means less of those games make it out to their respective systems.
It's gimmicky, but it actually adds some nice tactile feedback for certain games (brakes locking up in racers, subtle gun recoil) and doesn't invite awkward game design.
You do realize that is not a natural way to play a game after years of playing other games on a controller? Its not an intuitive control scheme. And no you can not argue it is, because if it was you wouldn’t have had to spend as much time in this thread explaining how simple they are and how everyone is doing it wrong…
Oh , it’s the bullshit,”You’re playing it wrong” argument. A person can play a game any way they want, and if they can get through the game without “playing it the right way” then who’s to say they did it wrong? The control issues are emblematic of Nintendo’s design troubles, but it isn’t the only problem with the…
You honestly blaming the reviewers for “not taking the time to learn the controls” for poor reviews? Look, if a person can beat the entire game without adapting to the controls then something is clearly wrong with the controls. It’s not like these reviewers have never played videogames before, I’m sure lots the vast…
I’d say that’s not even a viable option for Nintendo anymore. Third parties are always willing to get on board with launches, as Wii U had quite a varied launch list of franchises (Mass Effect, Tekken, Ninja Gaiden, Call of Duty, Mario, NFL, NBA, FIFA, Batman etc..) . It’s twofold, how to get gamers who love third…
Rumbling triggers give force feedback and subtract nothing to the game. They do let you know exceeding well about things not happening in your vision, such as in forza you can feel the rumble strips on you tires without having to see them, which provides a great addition to situational awareness.
Added functionality…
“You’re playing it wrong!” is what I used to tell my sister when I was 10 years old. I was wrong to say that then and Nintendo is wrong to say that now.
Your excuse is nonsensical.
Yes, because clearly you know what you are talking about.
Hardware on par with other consoles would bring third parties back to the system. Without the Call of Dutys and Destinys on the system, it’s going to be a console strictly for Nintendo fans, not the general gamer. The only other option is to release a console cheap enough to get people to buy a second console, which…
The gamecube was great. Powerful for the time, good exclusive lineup, a lot of great third-party games, and a controller with the best triggers I’ve ever used. I don’t think I’ll ever understand why it didn’t sell.
Don’t kid yourself, that will never be enough. Even when Nintendo had superior graphics (GameCube, aka their worst selling console) there was some other reason people wouldn’t buy their product.
For one, the Wii U is not doing very well. Secondly the core gamers dont really care about gimmicky console hardware and only first party titles. They care about being able to play AAA games as well and not having to buy 2 to 3 systems to do it.
