Sigh. As someone who spent (aka wasted) my college years studying in traditional print media back in the 1990's, it pains me to read your sheer level of ignorance on publishing and non existent understanding of copyright law in the western world. The fact you think or believe there is some sort of “policing” body for

There is a difference between a review and a Let’s Play stream. The reviewers I watch use game footage to make their points, but don’t just show the whole game. Many of them have twitch streams, too, but I don’t enjoy just watching people play games.

I’m not optimistic about the present of consoles, because before the Neo’s existence they were happy to give me a sub-30fps experience. The AAA mindset of having to be the prettiest thing on the market to get consumers attention has created a situation where they push fidelity as hard as they can, and 30fps just isn’t

He researches, scripts, produces and edits his videos as cultural coment for the entertainment and education of people - and he does so under a Patreon agreement.
That’s called work or, as some economists might also call it; labour.
Labour for which he’s entitled remuneration.

Well, I can see how his thousands of fans and continuing livelihood based solely on the sweat of his brow may seem meagre in the face of your own vast professional empire and rollicking internet fame, but it seems to keep him happy and in pogs.

Patreon is taxable revenue, it’s not, strictly speaking, a donation service. It’s basically a streamlined method for people to get monthly income from clients without having to run their own collections department. Like how ADP will handle a business’s payroll so they don’t have to hire a payroll department.

You’re not “old” in this context, you’re “ignorant as all get out of how showbiz has worked since the first motion picture cameras and projectors were invented.” John Wayne knew better than you, as did Elvis, and The Three Stooges before them.

Which would happen if any of this was being pursued through legal means, which it is not. This is all done by YouTube’s own automated processes. YouTube wasn’t served legal papers in these current instances to take videos down. They gave other companies a system to take down videos or monetize them through YouTube own

Uh, no. Fair Use can only be determined in a court of law. YouTube by DMCA law, has to follow up on any complaint or counter claim. They cannot give any claim or counter claim any validity, and leave it up to the parties to “duke it out”, in a legal forum.

That’s asinine.

Is Netflix on welfare too, then? People pay them on a monthly basis to provide video content.

Fair use also covers politcal satire and commentary. Given that the entire reason he’s putting unrelated footage in his videos is to drive a point that the copy protection system is broken he actually has a pretty good claim under fair use there as well.

He’s not trying to monetize it himself. He ran a crowd funding campaign and got all the money he needed from fans.

The point is that noone can make money on a video that wasn’t supposed to make money in the first place.

Jim gets all his money through his Patreon, he never monetizes his videos. he doesn’t like ads on his videos but if another company files a content ID claim they can put ads on the videos and he doesn’t want that. so if multiple company’s file content ID claims for the video nobody can monetize it and thus no ads.

His videos are ad free. He prides himself on it. He is 100% supported via his Patreon.

PS4 games will run badly optimized as they have been running WITHOUT the Neo’s existence. Bloodbourne much? Just because a better thing exists, doesn’t mean they’re just gonna say ‘fuck it’, let’s run basic Ps4 like ass. Games will be optimized for PS4, and improved on the Neo.

Well that’s more or less why I said “I” instead of “anyone”, which is what I initially wanted to type but didn’t. Personally, I’d WAAAAY rather have a game running well instead of having highest available fidelity.

Procedurally-generated SUPERHOT levels. Yes.
