You’re right. Go take them from ‘em.

Very cool. For as long as I can remember (before she passed), my grandma always got me a subscription to “Air Classics”. 90% of it was pre-jet age, combat aircraft, but they did always cover the Reno Air Races and all these monster Bearcats, Mustangs, P-38s, etc.
Yawn. Take a look at all the articles on FA’s first page. Does it really look like anybody is glorifying war? The classic P-51 sure is a hateful beast. Those F-15 pilots boring holes in the skies sure look like they’re just waiting to kill innocents. The dude that build a lego-battleship is probably going to pack it…
It had something to do with a hotel in Bangkok, ladies of the evening, and Family Guy playing in the background.
Yawn... you’re an idiot. The world is no different than it ever has been. Go away. I’ve been way more civil with you than I’d like to be.
The Iraqi Army we destroyed in the Gulf War, while not in the same ballpark capability wise, is far larger than the current Russian military. Even then aircraft usually returned home with half of their stores. It might look cool for photos ops, but the days of needing to lug around twelve-MK83s is over. It’s not…
It’s cross-posted because a massive segment of gearheads are equally interested in this stuff. It’s cross-posted because Al Gore, in all of his internet creating wisdom, realized normal people look at what they want, and ignore what they dont. No matter how big a judgemental tool one is, most people can still…
Good point. I had completely forgotten they bought their own Rivet Joints.
Oh have no fear, they’re still there. BAE (they also own Yarrow Shipbuilding and a ton of other recognizable names), BAC, Vickers (which includes Maxim), Rolls-Royce, Sterling, Royal Ordnance, Hawker Siddeley, MBDA, and another dozen you probably wouldn’t recognize the name of, but I’d bet you’d recognize their…
Hero. A real hero. Not that fucking idiocy that gets painted on some dipshit athlete or celebrity. Those guys had more honor, humility, and courage than 99.9% of the people that our society decides to strangely lift up. It’s disgusting. Glad people can hear about your grandpa through you, and get a taste of how a real…
No, thank you.
But to answer your question, id guess because it would be superfluous for the most part. Drones already do a fair amount of this if necessary (looking for a downed airliner, watching pirates, etc). Plus, they still have to have a manned platform to perform it’s primary tasks.
It’s FA. It’s clearly labeled as FA. If you don’t like it, don’t click on FA. I also detest some of the cross-posting they do, and as a result, don’t click on those articles.
Ah ok, my bad. I’ve gotten so used to people asking why these aircraft, autonomously, haven’t already taken over all forms of combat aviation that I didn’t even consider that you might have been talking about one with a man in the loop.
Sorry to hear about your dad. The Vietnam and older generations were so stoic, quiet, and humble about their wartime experiences. While it’s certainly admirable, a lot of things end up being lost forever when those people pass on with untold stories. My mother’s father, flew Wildcat’s off of an escort carrier in the…
Hell yes. All of you Nancy’s can have the girly little F-16 or fat-ass Tomcat. I’m an Eagle guy for life.
My dad, also a Vietnam vet (Navy UDT, then a plankowner with SEAL Team 2 when all UDT got rolled into the SEAL program) told me the exact same stuff, and was really serious about it.
I know it happened, but when exactly did they do that? Are they really so anal about it that it’s disqualifying people for stuff? Hell, I knew SAD/SOG guys with ten tons of ink. The unit I served with, everybody had tatts and a really large percentage of guys had full sleeves, back and chest, etc. Some of them ended…
