For the same reason UAV’s havent rendered all forms of aviation to an unmanned status. The technology isn’t there yet for them to operate without a human in the loop. There’s still a longways to go in that department. The A.I. is still miles away from where it needs to be for an unmanned aircraft to operate completely

These aircraft, like the P-3 before it, will spend tens of thousands of hours assisting in research on marine animals, meteorological studies, and oceanography. Not to mention ridiculous amount of search and rescue, disaster relief, and other humanitarian missions.

Yeah, i’d be stunned if the UK didn’t pick the P-8. It’s too good not to. But, I hear where you’re coming from, especially concerning the UK and maritime aircraft. They have such an amazing history in the UK that it’s kinda sad they won’t be using an indigenous aircraft.

Yeah, it’s some rear-aspect part of the countermeasures suite.

(wonders who else will pick up on that)

Anyone know why the pilot towards the beginning of the video is holding a chem-light? Don’t get me wrong, I know all about chem-lights, including the IR ones, and have used literally thousands of them. That being said, I’ve spent plenty of time around military flight lines, and have seen pilots use IR chem-lights for

Don’t listen to the people whining about the F-22 and F-35’s modest load out. The fact of the matter is, we haven’t needed to load aircraft up to the gills since Vietnam. Modern weapons have made the requirement of TER (triple ejector racks) on every pylon a bit redundant. Aircraft today are capable of hitting their

Growlers, and other completely dedicated ECM/ELINT aircraft would add to it’s capabilities. How necessary is it? Who knows. That’s one of those things that is classified to a crazy degree. That being said, we know the F-22’s RWR and countermeasures suite includes it’s AESA radar, which all by itself has the potential

Humor me a sec, I’m gonna change directions here. I’m gonna be in Romania, and a few other eastern Europen countries in a few weeks. Really looking foward to it as it’ll be my first time in many of those countries. Not sure how much free time I’ll have. Got any advice on places to go (more like things one shouldn’t

They do, got to 3:14. You’ll see it between the main landing gear on the centerline. Unless they’re doing some super realistic training among themselves, or other select aircraft/countries they’ll always be operating with the luneburg lens, in touch with ATC, etc for safety reasons. No reason to be black hole in the

For anyone wondering, go to 3:14 in Tyler’s attached video. The little thing centerline, between the main landing gear, is a luneburg lens (aka radar reflector). I’ve seen them in other places also, like between the canted tails.

He’s an ingrate of stunning proportions, don’t waste your time.

Trust me, they’re better than you. Just to give you an idea, I have a cousin that flys for the Navy (Super Hornets). It was a path he started down in grade school. To get accepted to the Naval Academy he had over a 4.0 GPA all four years. Captain of the football and baseball team. Student council president. Aced his

No need to respond, just remember I said this years from now. Mark my words, in a decade you’ll be pretty happy about the Canadian move to go with the F-35.

Kinda depends. The Navy generally gives you a callsign because of something stupid you did. The Air Force on the other hand, assigns callsigns for all kinds of things, not always in jest or to poke fun. Other countries have their own traditions.

This isn’t higher education. They don’t have to let someone in to meet a color quota. Sorry, no free hand outs this time :(

That’s exactly what that was. It was the mother of all dog and pony shows. I called it training in previous post and that’s not right. It’s a demonstration, they wanted people to get a good look at it.

Fuck man, I know what you’re saying. I mean what the fuck were they thinking? Fuck ‘em, those fucking motherfuckers.

You don’t even know what misogyny is. I bet you claim Israel is committing genocide too.

So because they’re having a private conversation at work, it’s unethical because the public pays for LE? Seriously? You’re special. How do you know they weren’t on break? Even if they weren’t they can still BS while working. According to you, a public figure can only discuss work things while at work?
