Exactly. If they used knowledge or code gained from working on PUBG, they are in trouble. That code is the PUBG dev’s property and they were paid to work on PUBG, not their own game.
That’s not how copyright law works. Concepts introduced in movies do not apply in games and vice versa. You can’t sue a game company for doing slow motion when it’s been done for ages in movies for example.
I think you may be too invested here, Epic is no “good guy”. While having similar game features is no crime the fact that the PUBG devs had a business relationship with EPIC before fortnite was released warrants further investigation. We have no idea what was going on behind the scenes.
I can understand where the PUBG devs are coming from. They pay to license the engine and that same company you are paying then goes and makes a game extremely similar to your own. Typically just having similar game features wouldn’t be enough but there may have been more going on behind the scenes than we know.

There are no good legal ways to change the system. Even if you call for a constitutional convention, that means your state politicians, you need 3/4rths of all states to agree. There are multiple big issues with that.
