They are by definition extreme reactions that don’t seem reasonable

I had a kind of mind-blowing realization that every Singer X-Movie has been about someone wanting to use someone else’s powers to do a thing. Dude literally just keeps telling the same story with progressively bigger budgets.

I dunno how true this is for anyone else, but one of the problems with the idea of a D&D film, for me, is that D&D is inherently silly

Age of Apocalypse or Age of Aquarius?

Funny you mention people getting them on their lunch break. That’s how I got mine. My usual shop either didn’t have them, sold out, or only took pre-orders, so my mom went to another one across town on her lunch break and managed to snag two copies.

That’s the blizzard curse. They can set up interesting worlds, but as soon as the characters open their mouths in these games the story goes to shit. And also the endings and “twists” ...really just every aspect of a blizzard story is bad except the universe they take place in.

The dialogue in the first one was really bad too. When the scientist says to the monkey “You took these glasses because you want to see the world for what it is.” or something similar.

If you keep repeating it’s good, maybe you’ll believe yourself.

Hail, Caesar! is not terrific. Went to see it with a few friends two weeks ago and before hand we were talking about the under-2 hour run time and looking forward to a nice, concise story for a change. When we left we all talked about how it felt way longer than 2 hours.

Hey, I never said it was a good theory :p

Professionals might have been “meh” but all of my friends (ranging from 23-56) are raving about it. Not just xbox americans but friends in europe, couples in New Zealand, etc.

That internet is like pre-facebook, maybeeee myspace. Smart phones werent around. Different times.

A ridiculously ballsy marketing team, imo, has a lot to do with its success. Everything put out was gold, particularly the Australia Day trailer, and I think that helped round in the reluctant fans. It also helps that fans got the Deadpool movie they’ve been asking for.

I think it’s a combo of good marketing, and being made at the right time. Deadpools violence and comedy just feelt like a wave of freash air to anotherwise oversaturated Superhero genre. I got very reminded of that when they showed trailers to a bunch of upcoming Superhero movies before they showed Deadpool on cinema.

Thank you. I actually broke out in inappropriate laughter at his actions (and face) at some points. He is neither cool nor composed. He’s barely been trained. Rookies out-Force him, and as an heir to the Skywalker family line he should not be weak in the Force by any means. I really like your summary of it, though,

Thank you, came down here to say that. Rey beats him because a) he’s wounded, b) as is made clear repeatedly, he’s still coming into his own power and is wracked with indecision about it (something that would undermine his abilities), and c) as you stated, he’s an undisciplined brat. Even pre-dark side Anakin, for all

He’s only intimidating to the characters because he’s ruthless and the only Force user currently running around the galaxy. The audience has seen the effectiveness of fully-trained Jedi/Sith, and can see how far Kylo is from that level of technique.

Because the men hating on this woman character (arguably more flawed than most badass leading man characters in all films ever) see Kylo Ren as strong, hot and competent. They literally don’t understand that Ren is an insecure failure. It’s a kind of hilarious mirror, actually.
