By the same token, don’t lump us all in the same category. Because there is a vocal minority that are incorrectly going about things (death threats and whatnot), that doesn’t mean we’re all like that. Some of us are okay with just not buying things in the store and leaving it at that.

Actually, let’s just sit with that last point for a second: If you’re a fan of Ooblets, the Epic Store announcement is fantastic news; no, you don’t get to play it on Steam, and yes, the Epic Store is a weird, janky ghost town of a thing that’s improving at an alarmingly slow rate, but thanks to Epic’s funding, Ooblets

One thing that bugs me is the argument that it’s “just a new login”. Do people really don’t understand that each additional storefront is yet another place your payment / personal info is provided? Every additional login you create is a potential point of access to your identity.

That Fred Flintstone was hot. He had me questioning my sexuality.

2 things.

Yay profit!

This is actually one of the reasons why i stopped watching some of my favorite streamers. There’s a lot of nice, wholesome streamers out there plagued by some crazy watchers. and kudos to the mods who try to filter it all, but it wore me down and I’m not even the one streaming.

Is it baffling?  There’s a startling amount of articles hating on Steam and praising Epic.  Makes you think.  Occam.

We should start by praising GoG. It’s a wonderful platform! It lives great with Steam, UPlay, and Origin. PC gamers should love GoG! I love GoG!  Competition is great!  Especially when it’s not at the expense of the consumer (like Origin.  I can’t...  Well, yeah, UPlay is kind of weird).

I don’t agree with what they did, but it’s hard to not understand why.  They were clearly in a lose-lose situation here.

We’re too far down the negative reinforcement hole :(. People, in general, do things to avoid being punished / get caught.

so... they can’t just like ebay a cartridge of GBA Final Fantasy 1 and 2(4) and just, reverse engineer their own work? Serious question, is there a step missing there? Dev kits, etc?

This is going full Metal Gear and we’re going to be playing Tingle.

What would be best is if we find out the new main antagonist is just Ganon’s manager.

Exciting! Dat level 30 skip tho. Ha!

Lol, so its not for the people who have been begging 15 years, so screw the people who made it happen and lets just go for the newcomers.

Huh. I thought that in most digital distribution models the data is actually hosted on the digital distributor side, in the case of smaller developers/publishers. Perhaps I misunderstood the model.  TMYK.

I agree.  It’s slimier, scuzzier.  It’s much more close to real life and appropriate.

I’m sure that this has been considered, I wonder if there’s some legal requirement causing the removal of the data from digital stores. It really isn’t that big of a deal (relatively) to keep slow, limited storage of old games for download services in the event of a publisher going under.
